Fake Gameboy Micro Ebay Auction

the q/a section is pretty hilarious!

STUPID EMAIL OF THE WEEK:

This is an email I recieved on 26 JULY 2005 by and angry mom concerning this auction...ENJOY!

"I am highly offended with your repsonse. You were talking to a 10 year old boy. This is his mother now. How dare you. If you are going to do marketing, you need to have a little diplomacy. He tells me that the system is not out until November, 2005. The fact that you are selling it now seems to be questionable. I think his question was very reasonable. I am reporting you to e-bay."

My response:

Hi Mom!
#1 - You're exactly what's wrong with this country. Whiney people who can't be satisfied with anything, ever, who complain at the drop of a hat about how offended they are about everything. Get a real life, or a job (no a REAL job).
#2 - If you were a GOOD mother, you wouldn't be letting a 10 year old CHILD scatter around on Ebay unattended, allowing him to find (and/or buy) all of the nice ADULT related materials that are so abundant on Ebay. Do a search for "dildo" on Ebay and there's plenty of results to be had for a 10 year old to see, and something for YOU to REALLY be offended by. Things are on Ebay that are worse than an HONEST answer to your 10 year old kid, Mom. YOUR IGNORANCE OFFENDS ME, so maybe it is I who should be reporting you to Ebay for letting a minor access a site that you AGREED to (in the user agreement when you signed up) only let people 18+ use.

:lol :lol

#3 - As for my diplomacy and accuracy of the item, try THIS on for size: READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION, MORON!

wow he sure own3d the boys mother! very nice ownage!

:lol :lol

Things like this piss me off.

I know a guy that bought a fake DS like this. He didn't speak English very well and he paid about $115 for it. I seriously would love to hunt this eBay seller down and beat the crap out of him.

It will be some guy that doesn't speak English well (or at all), that ends up winning this auction. Poor guy.

Lots of ebay domains exist for listing things in other countries/laguages.

Only the listing will appear in the language of the domain, not the item description. Regardless, a lot of dumb people on eBay. fully understanding what they're actually selling is a must!!

And truthfully describing an item as well... *looks at Greatest Hits version of F-Zero GX *

actually, the guy sounds like an asshole.

and having ACTUAL SYSTEM in huge red letters with a tiny 'not really' is deceptive advertising.. and quite frankly.. illegal.

I know but it makes me laugh. Anyone who falls for this is an idiot!

That's awesome!! :lol I pitty the fool that wins that auction and sends him the money and gets a origami Gameboy. :lol

Bah. People who post ads like this should be ... well, I'm not sure what should happen to them, but it should be sufficiently nasty and ironic.

I'm reminded of a short web page on "social engineering" I read recently... now, I know about hacker culture -- I like the origins of it; it's interesting. I saw something about "social engineering for free pizza" and thought I'd see what the gimmick was -- it turned out to be plain and simple fraud/theft (call a place, claim you've ordered a pizza and that it was horrible, then go get the "free replacement" for the pizza you never bought). How is it that scuzzbags don't even realize they are scuzzbags anymore? The next step is to simply shoot you, take your wallet, and chortle over how much more intelligent you are than the "noob" you shot.

What's sad is watch if that happened, the seller would sue and win.

Looking at this guy's feedback it looks like he just discovered "mutual feedback retraction" - I'm pretty sure that's what he's planning to do when all is said and done.

hahaha. you have alot to learn about the US legal system.

Stupidity is not a legally binding excuse. Fuck, the entire late-night infomercial industry is built on a foundation of stupid consumers.

The infamous PS2 box (only) eBay auction from a few years ago has now officially been topped. :lol

HAHA I remember that, the guy who won the thing payed like $1000+ for just a box.
