PS2 was just released in the States spawning lines of nerds (and non-nerds) in malls around the country, people were paying top dollar for the console with some people getting hoaxed (PS2 Box for US$ 2000!).

Dreamcast was putting up a brave fight with some stunning software.

Microsoft had released details on a badass powerful console and was rumoured to show the final design at CES in Jan 2001.

Nintendo had shown some awesome demos and games for the GameCube just a few months ago

XBox 360 is about to be released as MS's sophomore effort in the console business, but whether it can generate anywhere near the excitement of the PS2 launch, well even the XBox launch remains to be seen. Launch is plagued with rumours of rushed software and limited shipments (similar to PS2)

XBox and GameCube are putting up a horrible fight, but watch out for a $ 99 PSTwo

PS3 is a badass powerful console, but we knew that, unfortunately Whirlpool....ahem Sony has already finalized the console's design.

We haven't seen jackshit in terms of the games for Nintendo's next console, the controller looks interesting though

Pretty much nothing touches the hype and hecticness surrounding around PS2 launch, so yeah 2005 would seem duller in that aspect.

God, 2000 was such a dissapointing year for PS2. I thought that was common knowledge. If you said 2001 PS2 (GTA, MGS2, etc forver) then Id agree.
