There's a voting list for a Niconico special broadcast of the best and worst anime of the year.

Nominated for the anime portion are:

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
Fractale
Hourou Musuko (Wandering Son)
Nichijou
Tiger & Bunny
Ano hi mita hana no namae wo bokutachi wa mada shiranai
Mawaru Penguindrum
Full Metal Alchemist Naki no oka no sei naru hoshi
K-On movie
etc

lol... hmmm.... there's something out of place there... I can't quite put my finger on it

Also, as an added bonus, Yamakan had a Charlie Brown moment on twitter when asked about this award show.

To paraphrase "Its gonna be a Yamakan bash-fest. Have fun"

So what are the nominees for worst anime?

In all fairness, we are talking about a property that, even in the U.S., they're charging $40 for four episodes on Blu-ray. I don't think trying to attract new consumers to the series is their highest priority.

e: This is a weak edit especially after wonzo's comment below (which I don't really have a response to at this time), but as an addendum I'd like to note that the original Japanese trailers and commercials for Madoka were all similar in tone and style to this one.
I get that it's the same trailer as the old Japanese one, but the issue there was with the cut rather than the voices. Now we have a poorly cut trailer with bad English voices on top of it.

Like wonzo said, there is no point in bothering to do a dub if all Aniplex wants to do is exploit the existing American fans with blatant price gouging. Picking up big anime properties should be the kind of thing that opens up bigger markets and long term success. Instead Aniplex is treating this as an opportunity to abuse the popularity of a franchise to put in the bear minimum amount of effort and sell the result at an exorbitant price.

Oh boy, this criticism again.

-
-Leap from the roof? What are you even talking about?
the scene am talking about is the one that happens right after chaiki leaves sending makoto back, makoto then attempts a leap doing her usual routine of getting a running start up the stars then doing a leap, but it doesn’t work so she breaks up into tears only to later find out she’s got 1 leap left, contradicting the scene that just happened moments ago

would you care to explain that.

I know what scene you're talking about, she never tries a time leap during it, or before her final leap.
I'm sorry but it's hard to take criticism seriously that gets basic facts about what happens in the movie wrong.

So what did she try to do then? do her usual
routin and pretend to do a leap then cry??

BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T DO IT ANYMORE!!!!

HOLY GOD did you even watch it?

lol thanks for backing my point.

I don't know what to say if you refuse to watch the scene again and see that your assertion about what happens is simply wrong. You were obviously already upset about the direction of the movie and invented in your mind scenes which don't exist.

That NTR scene was completely unnecessary.

Weak defending, how about say what happens rather then avoiding it, you seem to know what happens so do tell.

I really hated that scene in K-on where Yui slaughters and devours a child. I don't understand why they even thought it was a good idea.

I felt that Hosoda tried too hard to tie The Girl Who Leapt Through Time to the larger Clampverse. The whole scene with Makoto going through the breasts of the girl attached to the door of time was a bit much.

Persona 4 11

The meat dimension makes its appearance... with the weirdest timing ever.

I like that they're giving Mitsuo more development than the game did. I was always fascinated by the guy, but his "arc" was over so quickly.

Steamboy

Surely they could've put some of that $22 million USD towards writing a better ending. Other than that the production values were fantastic. Even the CG was well handled!

I think there were more problems with Steamboy than just the ending... the CG and action were good, but apart from that it was kind of disappointing.

OH yes that. Love Sound of the Sky sooooo much.
If that is the feeling of mono no aware I know exactly what its like now. Especially with DAT CLASSICAL SOUNDTRACK.

Sora no Woto was my favorite anime of last year, but apart from me and Firehawk I remember it having a somewhat mixed reception here. But yeah, I thought it was outstanding.

It's the reception and perhaps acceptance of transience that makes it different from simple nostalgia to me. Toy Story 3 is another (Amerime) example.
Toy Story 3, mono no aware? Yeah, I guess in a way it was, but that was more nostalgia-centric I think... mono no aware isn't just about that. That's a part of it, of course, but also about transience in other things -- like clouds, or running water, or what have you, things that are beautiful but completely impermanent.

But yeah, mono no aware definitely requires understanding that transience, before either just appreciating its beauty and moving on, or trying to keep something going, or what have you.

Watch Aria, the OG "take a European city and put it in the future and fill it with girls :firehawk" show.
Is Aria the most :firehawk of shows, then?

I think people hated it because it was moe or something. I don't remember anymore!

Well, mainly the ending. The nostalgic ending would be him keeping the toys and putting them in a box or something. The :firehawk ending is the one we got.

Yep, it is! Tamayura is a close second.

Looked back at it, your right am over anazling shit and shouldn’t be posting shit when still full of rage.

The direction it took near the end just really pissed me off and made wanna stop watching.

Makoto leaps to the future where she fights Skynet in order to save humanity.

Wrong series on the anime side of things, but whatever, I needed an excuse to post this again. Plus episode 12 is airing in like seven hours anyway.

Actually, I had a perfect TokiKake picture, but if you know how time travel works in the Terminator movies then you know why I can't post it.

Beads must be hard to animate.

id think that compositing 3d beads over a 2d person would be harder to animate
and it seems that im correct
one piece and 3d have a bad history together (movie 11 is entirely 3d so its an exception, kind of)

Can't be that hard.

Make 3D beads. use a sphere as reference.

There, head through beads.
