Fall 2011 Anime Thread |OT2| The Tampire is Coming

The all girl team from last episode didn't have any individual characterization, whereas this team did, in addition to having added relevance to the main characters by Taichi and Porky's opponents being shades from their past and making Chihaya's opponent becoming personally invested in her. All this ups the stakes, as you would expect for a final compared to a semifinal. In light of this, I don't find the moment out of place.
Right, it felt like the mangaka or the script writer included it because "hey, it's sports cliche time" rather than any real desire to either characterize the opposing team or explore the "power" of the sport. Part of it, of course, was the time. It might have helped if the clubs had met before or something.

I'll never understand you.
It's because of my hot Fukui accent?

Are there any good deals to buy the three Utena remastered sets anywhere on the internet?
Given that it's a Noizumi thing, Rightstuf probably has the best price?

Such is the life of a (legitimate) anime fan. You want to watch that hot Madoka show people keep talking about? Wait a year and pay 100+ bucks.
I cannot justify paying over one-hundred bucks on animu. Which is ironic because I considered buying the sets only because I got a beefy Christmas bonus at work.

I could buy that Taiga figurine I've always wanted though...
yeah... ;-;

suffer

suffer like g did
I am soiled.

I don't agree; I did feel like it characterized the opposing team (especially with the bit of personality the teacher had) as well as show the bonding power of karuta. But then I haven't seen many sports anime; maybe if I had previously watched as much as you have I would have become as jaded as you.

So passive aggressive. The tampire approves. :lol

Just buy one volume a year! Besides, Like Steam games, you buy these to collect them, not watch them!

Funny thing about this movie is, I don’t remember what the movie was about, when I try to remember my mind mixes it up with spirted away.

Am not even sure if I liked it or didn't.

How can you know what the movie is about when the movie itself doesn't know?

Loathe as I am to engage CWarrior, I have to ask, what the hell have you been injecting if you think Spirited Away and Howl's are anything alike.

There was a beautiful Selvaria statue that I saw around $230 or something. I cursed my poor status and cried later. >>;

Maybe one day... maybe </3

Phi Brain 11

This is the cheesiest show but it's still fun to watch.
Also, extra amusement ensued after the way the episode ended when I learned that Luke/Rook is voiced by Takahiro Sakurai and Muller is voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa.

I never read the book so that might be why. I've wanted to read the book for a while now though.

I checked the book out from the local library and read it in a single sitting as soon as I heard Miyazaki was adapting it into a movie; I was so excited. Sadly my expectations were cruelly dashed.

To be fair, the book itself has a rushed and somewhat confusing conclusion. It's definitely much, much more coherent and well-structured though. Miyazaki's adaptation is extremely loose; he only took a couple core concepts and then covered them thoroughly in his own obsessions.

Chihaya 11

That was probably the most exciting and interesting karuta match thus far. The character introspection during the matches really help flesh out the characters a bit in terms of their motivations and feelings, etc. The barrel roll bit was pretty hilarious. It was nice that they are keeping Arata connected to the story as well.

Not true. I ship them along with me =(
In your case, it's probably cheaper to rebuy them every time. :p

I do, however, have a little Mugi figure displayed proudly on my desk. Friends buy friends stupid anime figurines.

And I've begun to sell off my DVD/videogame collection because I just know I won't (haven't) touch(ed) most of it. Utena is a pretty good investment because there's a high probability that I'll actually watch it.
What has less value - anime or video games?

Bleach 352

Bringer Light for Ichigo v Tristan didnt look that special in the anime nor manga, however playing Clavar la Espada during the fight was a nice touch. Another number one instrumental rearrangement?

Horizon 11
Neito Argent Loup Mitotsudaira was pretty cool. The last two episodes and this really did an excellent job highlighting characters abilities. Ptolemaic Theory + Heliocentrism fight was probably my second favorite in the show. They even played the epic battle theme, nice.
Cant believe both Honda's proved to not have good abilities, and event worst, she lost with Slicing Dragonfly !!! :(

Infinite Stratos's DVD and BR are both second for anime sales in Japan? That'll be a lot of unhappy nerds once everyone's seen it.

22 thousand Char fans!

Video games sure are harder to sell, but a lot of the ones I've got are old editions nobody wants. How do you get rid of OG SF4 when there's like ten one newer, cheaper version out with incrementally greater additions?

Oddly, animu is my hot product. Even moreso than live-action American movies!
Huh, I figured no one would want animu. Go figure. And hey, they "only" released SF4 three times! lol

Is this really a real thing, and does heliocentrism win for great justice and science?

The dude he was facing had lunar powers, so it fucked up the theoretical orbital path. He didn't even put up much of a fight, which was super surprising considering he was hyped up as a big player while the guy who beat him was just one of the main character's classmates.
