Mawaru Penguindrum: Stunning, sober look into the elation and struggle associated with upholding family values in the face of adversity and change.

Infinite Stratos: an engrossing account of political struggle between modern states played out as a tragicomedy in a Japanese school setting

Hipster or anime hipster? If the latter, Jexhius or Hitokage!

Whoever liked Madoka before episode 3.

The true animegaf hipster is the one that watches the least amount of anime but still considers them self an anime fan.

Denshinbashira Elemi no Koi

This was pretty good for a love story between a man and a telephone poll. The stop-motion animation certainly added to how unique this was.

*flashes hipster cred*

How can you say the first line and then slag MPD on the second? Hito is a pretty big MPD proponent.

I love other Ikuhara shows like Sailor Moon (thus far) and Utena. Can't hit on all of them.

Ro-Kyu-Bu: Five girls bonded by the art of basketball, striving to tear down the walls of gender discrimination that plague modern-day Japan.

Glass Fleet: a stunning space opera epic with discordant anachronisms that align perfectly to the subversive and complex narrative, a subtle weave of political and religious machinations that are but the side effects of mankind's existential crisis, illustrated beautifully in the complementary arcs of the main cast. Through it all a timely and yet, timeless commentary on the neverending plight of the masses and their exploitation by the bourgeoisie cuts to the heart of our modern society.

You stole that from one of Michel's opening monologues, didn't you.

"If you like politically charged sci-fi on an epic scale—along with sassy teen pilots in slinky lingerie, boozing pirates sporting eyepatches and a strong undercurrent of swirling ambisexual possibilities—Glass Fleet is definitely your show." — Jack Wiedrick, Newtype USA

Sounds right up doomed1's alley.

K-On movie: The vivid examination of the daily lives of Japan's underground music culture, their struggles and the power of solid visual appeal. A truly powerful work which may become the necessary catalyst to change the world we live in.

Ro-Kyu-Bu!: A controversial take on how a paedophile would deal with Coaching a grade school Basketball team.

Yuru-Yuri: A show which manages to make faux-yuri even more boring as usual.

It's nice to dream.

I'm probably the most hipster in that; I literally look down on everyone else here intellectuality because you don't share the same general taste as me..

That quote is entirely accurate.

He never says "and you like these things to be done well."

Invasion! Squid Girl: An endearing classic that takes an intellectual but accommodating look into the socioeconomic factors surrounding the erosion of environmentalist ideals in developing countries like Japan by following the life and struggles of one of Earth's most enduring and capable denizens of the natural world.

When did you start breaking my heart Lafiel?

Ika Musume S2 10: Dear god. The first 8 minutes of this episode are literally torture for a vegetarian.
