Double-O Squid: The Calamari Who Loved Me 10: I never knew that meat on the krill could be such an complicated event.

Goro is the ultimate in tentacle-whipped males. His love for Chizuru dives into sadomasochism at this point.

I wish I could sea snow right now. Fucking Texas, man.

LoGH Gaiden: 100 Billion etc. - End

The first three story arcs in this series felt like "gaiden" side-stories, but these last 12 episodes have been full-fledged LoGH, with large fleet battles and sweeping scale. Good stuff. There are quite a number of "It's that guy!" moments, that make it clear this was made for fans. That it can also introduce an original character like Luneberg and create a compelling tragedy out of him is a testament to the author's skill.

Now I just have Spiral Labyrinth and 2 movies left.

So I just started Fate/Zero
and theres a scene where two people are circling around this man for what seemed like 10 minutes
Is there much action in this show?

Only explanation there is for the boredom levels of episode 1 is, it had to be an initiation test, testing your mental endurance by witnessing an even worse opening episode then gungrave’s to see if you are worthy for the episodes containing Rider.

It had to be....right?..

just wanna say you guys are pretty awesome and it would be great if we could ever hang out and watch anime. As it is, I already find much less time to hang out with local fans and friends, if at all. The internet kind of sucks once you realize this is not possible.

Squid Girl S2 11

So the team up with Ayumi's dad and the scientists in the OP finally happens. Still kind of fucked up Ika agreed to a death match with the doll 0_o

I'm guessing they are familiars of the characters or a representation of them.

Are you sure this is being posted in the right thread Trojita?

ARE YOU SURE?

ABSOLUTELY SURE?

Here are their respective human counterparts. The humans signified by the cats are all ninjas.

Looks like a nadeshiko type character

Seitokai Yakuindomo 7-10 - This is a great comedy series, this is good stuff! Hopefully it'll get a full second season, but at least it has a couple of OVAs this year, anyway... I'll get to those soon for sure. :)

This series is just so much fun to watch, I know I've fallen way behind on most of this season's shows, but I'm liking this too much to go and watch them instead. Maybe after I finish it I'll go and catch up in stuff like Ben-to and Last Exile Fam... only five more episodes. The only real criticism I could have is one I've made before -- the series repeats the same jokes frequently, and it does sometimes get a little old. Suzu is short and sensitive about it. Other girls make sex joke, MC says a negative retort. The teacher who oversees the club says yet another thing that makes you wonder how she didn't get fired years ago. Repeat. However, it's still quite funny overall, so I don't mind too much, even if a little more variety might be nice. Comedy shows do usually focus on finding some funny jokes and repeating them, though, of course. At least the humor here is mostly funny. :)

Oh, and yeah, I like the added stuff the anime has versus the manga, and that it doesn't remove the series' humor either. It's a good adaptation. It's not exactly like the manga, but it's close, and the changes don't hurt it in comparison.

Maken-Ki! 11 - Only one more episode left? Aww, it's almost over... :( Not that it's going to have any kind of ending worth mentioning, I'm sure.

In this episode, the MC tries out his maken, which cancels other makens (haven't seen that power before!). On a side note, this episode also just happens to be about a maid cafe, and most of the female characters working at said cafe in order to make enough money to go on the Maken-Ki club trip, because apparently they wasted too much of the club budget on random stuff to be able to afford it from that. So yeah, bad excuse for a maid episode, check. Girls in maid costumes, check. Some of them find it embarrassing, check. Nudity happens, vast numbers of pantyshots, etc, it's all extremely, extremely predictable. As far as Maken-Ki episodes go this wasn't one of the worst ones, considering how very, very low its lows are, though, so it's got that going for it at least... though that shouldn't exactly be something many people consider praise. :)

Anyway, in the end there is a fight. The MC learns that
his power only works if the enemy is using a maken; a really strong person can still hit him. Oops! :D
He then begins to show off some of his Super Awesome Secret Power (all anime MCs have it!), but one of the girls shows up and beats the badguy first, so he doesn't really use it here. Villain girl and friends vow to continue trying to defeat him, setting up next episode's confrontation, the end.

As for why this is the only show of the season I'm not behind on at the moment... um. I'd rather not think about it. :p

Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing 10

Eh, a recap episode told through the frame of a letter, with plenty of stuff that they totally wouldn't put in a letter like "Before we were on the Sylvius, we were sky pirates," things that the receiver would probably know...

I get the impression that they might be saving up budget though. Some of the animation in these episodes is pretty awesome, and y'know, I can really appreciate the CG of the ships and such. I mean, it's a staple of Range Murata anyway, but it really gives that sort industrial counterpoint to the much more earthy design with the character costumes. If they were saving budget, they better damned sure go all out next episode. D:<

Is anybody gonna do a AOTY 2011? This year sure got some strong contenders for it.
How would you handle qualification for series that bridged the new year gap on either side? For example, Star Driver aired almost half in 2010 and half in 2011, but was on the 2010 poll, and then there's the plethora of series carrying over into next year from the current season.

I don't think we need an AOTY vote or w/e.

Now waifu of the year I can get behind.

Considering all the hnnnnghh generated this year I can say any girl that generates a hnngh is waifu of the year,so thats basically almost all.

Anyway, whatever show airs in that year stays in that year.

Threw together a preliminary list of 2011 anime -- probably still missing some stuff, particularly OVAs and movies, so any help filling in the blanks would be great.

e: Added The Borrower Arrietty, Towa no Quon, .hack//Quantum, Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Solid State Society 3D, Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail, Gundam Unicorn, Appleseed XIII, Sengoku Basara: The Last Party, Hellsing VIII, and Carnival Phantasm, Lupin III, Redline.

Was Dragon Crisis really this year? Oh god, I just wanted to forget...

Hen Zemi also had an OVA that partially came out this year that isn't on your list.

Are we counting movies when they released or when the DVD comes out? For the purposes of Animegaf, I personally think the latter would be alot more fair since movies will get the shaft if people haven't seen them yet.

In cases like that, when a series had both a TV season and OVA(s) this year, I wasn't sure if they should be listed separately or included under the same overall series banner, since I would think the material would be similar. I can run either way with it in the end.

Yeah, only movies that have so far been released on disc is a better idea; guess that should include anything with a theatrical release in 2010 but disc in 2011?

Yeah, like how Arrietty should probably be in the list but Kokuriko or K-On shouldn't be.
