Uninstall if old.

Got damn physical.

Getting my PC copy from Amazon with the pip boy edition.

Since not all of the data will be on the disc, I will have to download the remaining. That sucks. No VPN unlock for me like I did with Black Ops 3.

Why does that matter?

Have you noticed how defensive you are over this game?

But yeah, it's an impressively tiny size. Download took practically no time at all, now I'm just waiting for Monday to VPN the shit out of the game and play all day.

Do we know how much is on the disc or is it just a cd key?

How you know noticed the 197 thread with the most hyperbolic in gaf history shitting on a yet unreleased game.
Because it may be missing files that need to downloaded on day 1, and it's annoying if it is still of somewhat considerable size.
I did not know that. I figured the guy I replied was trying to imply the was gonna be small due to a small file size.

Can't preload because I'm getting a copy from Best Buy, but good to know the size so I can start clearing up some space on the SSD. Actually quite a bit lower than I thought.

You guys remember how freaked out we were when Skyrim was only 6.9 Gigs big? How did that turn out? There is nothing to fear.

I think the worry comes from being smaller than the console version. There might still be files left to download come launch day.

Well, 5Gb is pretty small. Took me less than 30min to download full game when download speeds reached 15-16MB/s.

But there is also seam compression for pre-loads. I remember GTA5 after pre-load was 10Gb more on my SSD than when I just pre-loaded it, took like 30-40mins to decrypt and unpack.

PS4 shows 32GB for the filesize.

Yeah, Steam compresses files pretty hard. Sometimes it takes longer to unpack than it does to download.

Steam downloads are compressed and smaller then the size they extract to on your hard drive, though of course it's possible there will still be some files it needs to download on release day.

I actually kinda hate that with pre-loads. There is plenty of time left to download a bit bigger file size, and I would greatly prefer that over having to wait like an hour when it is unlocked for it to unpack. I understand this is better for people with data caps etc., but still

Last time I pre-loaded a game (MGS V), there was no Play icon after the game released so I had to delete and re-install the game

Any reason why that might have happened and how to avoid it with Fallout?

Amazon should email you your cd key. Why?!!why did I go physical!?

To email you the key they would need to open your copy. Also I don't know why anyone would go physical on PC other than for Pip-Boy Edition. You can get game with 20% discount through GMG.

Maybe compression could help that a bit or nah?

Might save you 1-2Gb, but don't expect miracles, probably would still need to download 9-15Gb.

Am I the only one getting really strange persistent downloading issues? My internet connection is fine but the actual download keeps starting then stopping.

Why are people just now noticing Preload is up on Steam?

Like, it's been up for a few days now, but now out of the blue I'm seeing a bunch of news articles and threads popping up about it around the internet.

I think that's because it isn't unpacking only, but also decrypting. That's why steamworks games don't leak even though you have all the files available.

Got my key from GMG last night and just finished preloading. Ready to go!

Oh? Mine wasn't available for pre-load until 4pm EST yesterday.

What's the earliest region/time for the unlock?

Before Steam Refunds, I wouldn't even consider touching a pre-load. But the times have changed, and now my finger hovers over the button... but I must be strong!

Already pre-loaded, shame that it doesn't let you change the Language settings so it probably just downloaded the English version of the game for me, so will have to re-download it on launch if I'm unlucky.

dat feel wen people complain about only 25 gigs is small
