Fallout 4 is available for pre-load on Steam

looking forward to seeing the impressions, technically at least. trying to ignore the hyperbole on both sides of the argument on the quality of the actual game.

So VPN is safe to use with Steam?

Yes, i do it all the time. And i have like 180 games or something, and i feel safe. So nothing to worry about really. Its only a problem if you use a vpn to buy something cheaper in another country.

Steam is telling me there's an update required, but it's not actually downloading. Any ideas how to force it?

Right click the game and select Manage Downloads, it might start then. Or it might not. Who knows! When I did it yesterday, the window very briefly flashed a download bar as if to check if there's shit to do. Best of luck to you.

Having trouble establishing a connection with F-Secure Freedome, probably due to high traffic. Any alternative VPN's that are good to use for this?

Took 19 mins to download game - already over 20 mins being unpacked. Two mins left. Should have just downloaded it fresh on release.

I really should have let vypervpn keep running last night. I didn't realize I was already on my 3rd connection for the day. Now it's a matter of finding a new free VPN that isn't getting hammered. Yuck.

Ok, so it's 3 connections per day per server. If you used your 3 connections to one AU or NZ server, just choose another one and you'll be fine. Fallout time, motherfuckers!

I'm having trouble getting in again.

connected to an Australian VPN (with Singapore store for some reason) and its not working. Any thoughts?

Posted this in the OT, but it was moving a little too fast and never got answered. This is probably a more appropriate place to ask:

I had a question about the whole VPN unlocking thing. I live on a college campus and all the computers have to install this security network that prevents activities such as torrenting. Would I be able to use a VPN while synced up to this network?

Er... I was playing the game with the VPN on. I closed the game. Closed Steam and now I can't play anymore even if I only start Steam after the VPN is connected.

Is this normal?

If my PS4 preload doesn't start within the next five minutes, I'm cancelling my preorder, selling my PS4 and getting the XBox One copy.

If that copy's framerate freezes even once, I'm selling it, along with my XBox One, and getting the PC version.

If my PC version doesn't run at 4K 60FPS with my four year old mid-range graphics card, I'm selling it, along with my PC, and buying a PS4 and that version of the game.

I can't get flyvpn or vpngate to connect to AUS/NZ vpns. Are they just too busy at the moment?

edit: nvm. just got in and unpacking !

It's taking a bit of time though....~15 minutes to unpack.

If it matters to anyone Spotflux is an unspammed VPN with a no-form-to-sign 3 day trial. The install was tiny and ad-free and changing the region to sydney-australia was as simple as clicking from a dropdown list and waiting for it to connect. For me it worked almost immedaitely and I have been playing FO4 on my PC for the last few hours since the total download (after pre-loading days earlier) is no larger than 2.5mb. The rest was a matter of it just unpacking which it did a the same time.

Yeah. Only a certain number of these has hve passed around en masse and they have been hammered for like 8 hours now. At it's worst you couldn't even go to their websites to download them. That's why I chose Spotflux. It's not a "free vpn" but it does has a free trial period.

Perfect.

FlyVPN just disconnected while I was unpacking, and it seems Spotflux isn't working either.

blah

You may have to give Spotflux some time to connect.

:edit:

Used it again to install the beta update (15 minute crash fix). Sydney kept getting downs but Germany worked.
