Fallout 4 PC Ultra screenshots

Even though Bethesda games aren't really known for their graphics all that much I find it very strange that they haven't thought to put more emphasis on the graphics of their game.

The reason being that Bethesda's forte is definitely in creating these vast amazing landscapes with tons of details that just suck you right in and is arguably the aspect that everyone who plays their games fell in love with.

I fell like they more than anyone should try to take advatange of today's hardware.

When will they kill Gamebryo? If the next Elder Scrolls uses that engine it will be really sad. It's outdated by at least one generation if not more. Makes Fallout 4 looks bad.

It's 200 years after the nuclear holocaust. The more serious question is why in Fallout 3 everything was still irradiated as hell.

Let's not worry about those minor details. Let me show you a place where people built a town around an inactive bomb.

Not anytime soon. UE4, CryEngine etc. can't really do open worlds the way Bethesda does them.

Looks like Fallout. I don't care about textures that much, the game will be amazing. Some people will put out visual mods that I'll hopefully be able to run.

I'm more than happy to play the console version after seeing those shots.

And my god the UI looks even more hideous in these PC shots. There's gotta be a way to disable/alter it.

Looks pretty decent to me. Not great by any stretch, but also not terrible. Just as I expected the LOD seems to be the biggest improvement from the console versions.

At least Bethesda likely isn't feeding us bullshots like most publishers.
With the first screenshot they put out I already knew what to expect from the graphics. I'm talking about the 4K screenshot of that power armor in the shack. On the left side you could clearly see the distance rendering and just overall the lack of shadowing on certain elements. This was on the day it was announced.

Don't know why people build up an unrealistic expectation about how it is going to look. I think it looks great, but maybe that's only because I knew what to expect.

ive never played any fallout game but ive seen a 24h session of fallout3 this weekend and now im kinda hooked. Might geht f4. Will f4 also have the VATS system? I liked that alot, also, how similar will it be to f3? is it largely the same in terms of gameplay or are they trying something new?
that said, i dont like that suit..

Oh, hello mutual Rocketbeans friend! :)

Will buy, but still not sure if I want to play on the couch with controller (PS4) or at the desk with m+k..

I'm getting old. I was sure that the "i7, 970" was meant as the i7-970 processor, so I was thrilled that I could run Fallout 4 at Ultra...

Few moments later it dawned on me, that it was "i7 CPU and GTX 970 GPU" :(

Didn't need amazing graphics to enjoy the heck out of 3 and New Vegas.

Still, it is fairly disappointing that animations have not seemed to have recieved much improvement when compared to previous titles, as that was the one rather large sore spot for me when it came to the visual package.

The Ultra screenshots don't drop my jaw but I am still okay with them. The game will look nice from time to time and bad in other situations, even on a PC. But this was already the feeling I had from the e3 trailer.

I am more interested about the framerate on a 970 to be honest, do we have any kind of info about that?

I don't care how it looks. Gameplay will be great and it's day 1 for me.

I just hope the game runs fine without bugs.

For me, bad animations are more immersion damaging than LOD, shadows or draw distance.

And this game has bad animations compared to other titles in 2015.

Ok LOD is way better than the console screens i saw earlier.

Thats good enough for me, now I'm curious to see how it runs on that config.

It is not impressive even on ultra pc settings. I wonder how will it be on console.

There are direct-feed PS4 screenshots floating around in one of the other Fallout 4 threads. Asset quality seems to be largely if not entirely identical, however the LOD system is very aggressive, which is to be expected.

They've seen massive improvements, and the fact that conversations are now totally seamless, to where you can move around and do what you want and other NPCs can chime in, is a pretty big improvement as well. The animations are just not competitive against the mocap'd animations of their competitors.

WAY better? ehhhhh...

Looks amazing, much better then the reveal gameplay we got and it will probably look even better in motion.

Do we know if loading cells are a thing still? I've been spoilt by Witcher 3 for not having loading screens when entering buildings and I'd hate to have it in here.

Yes, smaller buildings are now open but anything larger than that is behind a loading screen (tho if the Quakecon demo wasn't doctored, there's barely any actual loading involved, it was almost instantaneous - a big improvement).

The UI scaling on the PC is all wrong, need to fix that at the very least. And the placement of the elements I don't like either, way too much empty space on the corners and bottom left unused. And that crosshair's pretty gnarly too, though I guess it could be tied to the perks so it gets tighter the more skilled you get.

This looks really good to me so I'm confused by the responses. Can someone show me what they classify as a good looking pc game? I don't have a gaming pc so I have no idea what it would look like

The main thing I took from these shots is I'm now thinking I might get this on PC instead of PS4 because I'm sure there will be mods to change that awful HUD in no time. Seriously looks like a placeholder that they didn't bother changing.
