Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition

Whoa. Mine was the same way. Holy crap. Maybe I should contact them. What did you say?
Just told them what happened, and that it's not like I can exchange it, since they aren't making any more and it's sold out everywhere.

Boom, refund. Wasn't what I was expecting at all, but I'm not going to argue.

It's like some weird clusterfuck of design. And everyone's repeating the same problems.

1) Get device
2) Put device in and see that on Galaxy phones it presses down the volume and power buttons, making them useless
3) Try things on device, breaking light on back
4) Try other things, breaking black button on back
5) Open device to try to figure out a way to fix it. Wow. This thing looks like a 4th grader put it together. Sloppy sloppy drill holes.
6) Fixed easily with super glue. Like, REALLY easily
7) Screw it back in only to find out the screws DON'T GO BACK IN!? WHAT IN THE EVER LOVING FUCK?
8) Swap out screws with slightly thicker ones, being happy you had a bunch of these
9) Put foam insert back over, breathe sigh of relief

Damn, feel bad for those that received botched Pip-boys...mine turned out alright. Now I only with there was an easier way to turn off your phone while it's in there...

Some great tweaks for a Jailbroken iphone (what do you have?)

a cydia tweak called activator allows you to customize any input or tap to do anything.

(like swiping from left to right with 4 fingers can turn the screen off. or triple tapping the screen with 2 fingers will power it off... or have siri always listening and just tell her to turn off the screen... god i love jailbreak tweaks.)

I don't know what's more depressing, the impressions about the quality here, or the fact that amazon.fr choked so hard, that i possibly get my Pip-Boy edition on friday earliest. ._.

"Do not preoder!" ... i know i know, but sometimes, if you don't preorder asap on amazon.de, you end up ordering from a different EU amazon branch and this stuff happens.

I'm sorry you're one of the people who got fucked over by Amazon. :( If it makes you feel better my Pip-Boy is in perfect condition, I'm really surprised they came out bad for some people.

We got two pipboys and they were perfectly fine thankfully. Just got the problem of the app wont connect to our games, dont know if its a problem with comcast router or what

Mine had scratches on it, too, they offered me 15% or to send it back for a full refund. Pushing back a bit now to see if they can do better. If not, 15% is fine, the Pip-Boy itself is fine, it's just the casing with scratches on it. It's a bummer, but it's what I've come to expect these days from Amazon's packing people.

Edit: And 20% is the max I was able to get back. My Prime membership is up tomorrow, I think I may just let it lapse, the shipping situation with Amazon has gotte progressively worse since I signed up 2 years ago.

Edit 2: Played the "Prime membership expires tomorrow", which it does, she left, came back, and hiked up the credit to 50%. Cool beans.

So I loathe Ontrac from the depths of my soul for A) attempting to deliver at like 8pm and B) Not following the note I had for calling my home phone if they couldn't get into the apartment complex(which seemingly every other carrier is able to easily get in somehow)

The upside is that Amazon was able to switch the Pip-boys delivery to where I work and it's on its way there now!

Oh and you can ask Amazon to avoid using certain carriers I found out last night...soooo no more Ontrac for me!

My only issue with the device is that it's too loose on my arms. I fully tightened the Velcro strap, but then the strap overlaps too much and there's a long tail sticking out that annoyingly rubs against my arm.

Other than that, the device itself looks great. No issues with the build quality

PBE arrived today from Amazon, but whoever packed it didn't use enough material and it was just rolling around in the box. The case was a little marked up unfortunately.

Emailed Amazon, told them what happened, and they issued me a full refund and told me to keep the game.

Based Amazon, they are ridiculous.

Seriously? I have a broken case, doesn't fully shut, and Amazon issued me a refund and a return label...no partial refund or anything. They said to keep checking their website for another one, even though I said it's not likely that another would show up (that's not sold by a third party and starting at $220.

Wondering if I should just sell it on ebay...the actual Pip Boy is in excellent condition and I just ended up buying the game on steam anyways.

Canceled mine when the 6S+ wouldn't fit. This whole thread seems like a nightmare, I hate everyone is having so much trouble. Should've been one of the coolest collector's edition items.

Came in thinking, "Man I hope I can find one of these in the wild."

Yikes.. I'm saddened by the news of you all having so much trouble with these. Hopefully something gets done on a grand scale since this seems to have turned into quite the mess.

Girlfriend got one, first comment she made was how incredibly large the area where the pipboy clamps to your wrist was. Like she could nearly fit both arms through that thing.

Eh, the moment I saw this I knew it would be the Halo Helmet all over again. Would have loved something like FO3's lunchbox (still use that, lol).

that lunchbox is pretty useful, lol. I never used it.

to be fair, they use the PIP-boy over their sleeves.

It came with others things though. Making of DVD. There's also the bobble head, the 100 page hardcover art book, I'd gladly take that over the plastic pip boy and steelbook.

yea, I still have everything from that FO3 Survival Edition. it was pretty impressive.

So, a cheap plastic toy?

Who didn't know that's what this (and 99% of CEs) is?

Display it people, don't actually wear it!

Eh, it was kinda cool to wear it for like...10 minutes. Maybe not even that. I still would press a button to use the in game pip boy but I really liked having the map displayed on the phone.

Anyone else using the app have it just obliterate the battery? after like...I dunno maybe an hour of leaving it on (after I took it off my wrist), I noticed that my freshly charged battery was getting lowish. I generally get good battery life out of my phone and was wondering if it was just like...a compatibility thing of running an emulated android app on my phone.

Wow. My arms are pretty puny, for a guy anyway, and it's snug on me. Yours does have the foam padding inside the sleeve, right?

Eh, to each their own. I love the Fallout 3 CE, and New Vegas was nice, but this is my favorite. It sucks about the quality control issues though.

It could be constantly using WiFi which would drain it.

Damn build quality sounds crap, luckily I ordered it for the box, game case, and poster then used my GCU from Best Buy. Looks like I'm just going to just display my Pipboy, definitely not going to use it or touch any of the buttons lol.

I would never actually use it anyway. It's for display purposes, imo, the case is real nice tho.

I also have all the CEs for the DJ Max Portable games, and also just picked up the one for Xonic.

Those are fucking gorgeous, beautiful works of wonder.

Even the F:NV Lunch Box was better constructed than this. Or the duffle bag and lock box that was with GTA IV.

Cancelled mine as soon as I saw the first few unboxing video's. So disappointing after the excellent Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas collector's edition.

My Pipboy was perfectly fine. I'll occasionally throw my phone in there for the novelty, but it's not really intuitive to play the game that way.

The case and the pipboy itself make great display items.

I wouldnt even display it. Looks too cheap. I think with a good paintjob though, with some fake rust, and some weathering, it would look nice.

I need advice.

I finally got mine in the mail and it's super damaged. The pip-boy casing is scratched, scuffed, and won't open/close correctly because one of the hinges has come completely out and bent away.

The game's metal casing has completely shattered somehow and there's little plastic pieces everywhere.

The pip-boy itself is mostly okay, it's probably the best/most undamaged thing in the package...

But honestly why is any of this damaged? I contacted Amazon already and let them know about how grossly unsatisfied I am about it, but that I know I likely won't be able to get a replacement because it's a rare collectible and I doubt they have more...

A) what is Amazon going to offer me to fix this?
B) as painful as it is should I hold off on using the CD key to install the game? I want to play it so badly but if they did offer me a replacement I'd feel shitty about sending back a used key...

So mine steelbook was broken too. I emailed Bethsoft about it.

Here's my steelbook, which I included with the support ticket, along with my proof of purchase.

And their response to me explaining that it was broken but in the package as if it were broken during assembly:

Amazon offered a 10% refund and that's it.

So we're fucked, basically, unless a news site picks this up and Beth is forced to fix it. Steelbooks aren't like the pipboy, they're constantly manufactured.

Hey guys,

So, count my little brother in with the broken pip boy count here.

I still can't believe that Bethesda is telling people to basically fuck off with both the steelbooks and pip boys. Shameful. On the horn with best buy now to see if they can do something...

Out for delivery! Hope it's not all scratched up like some of y'alls. Really sucks about that on ce items because you can't really exchange them.

Got an email from amazon about a $10 credit because of not meeting delivery expectations as well. Essentially refunds my one -day shipping I did, although an actual refund over credit would have been better.

wow

feel like i dodged a bullet by canceling my pip boy

Cod 3 CE is the superior CE

So I preordered this with The Legend of Zelda for the 6 months no interest, chose to have them all shipped together so they don't charge me a shipping fee like always, but I called a couple of days ago to see why this hadn't shipped and that was why so now it won't be here until tomorrow. Unfortunately I work open to close so I won't even be able to pick it up from the leasing office, hopefully UPS doesn't just leave it by my door. Really sucks because I am off today...

I have an LG G4 but I probbaly won't keep the Pip Boy anyway, and if I do it will just sit on display, I'm not actually gonna wear the damn thing.
