I just saw the new TV spots on VH1 and I just HAD to make a thread. :lol Can't wait for the new season (Sunday, May 1st). :D

I also heard that the first episode got leaked...but I saw it 3 months ago anyway. :p

I saw the leak. One of the best episodes yet.

Yeah I have Seen the new Episode, it was hit and miss
The Stewie and Brian as parent parts were more bad, then funny, The opening with Peter naming the fox show that would have to be cancelled for them to make a return was Brilliant though. And Mel Gibson parts, and the pardy of the Passion ruled. Overall Good return epsiode.

I thought that bit with them babysitting rocked, especially when they went to visit the newscaster.

You Might want to spoiler that, and I did edit what I put...overall a great ep

I wasnt expecting much because I didnt really like the last 5-6 episodes of the last season but I was pleasantly surprised.

I was getting quite frustrated during the very first jokewhen he was listing all the Fox shows and thought "i knew it, this new season is gonna be awful" but then the punchline totally floored me. I need to watch it a 2nd time but the rest was really good too.

I couldn't stop laughing at the high class british porn scene for some reason. I watched them like 10 times before it stopped being funny. The intro was awesome. Passion 2 was awesome. Pinocchio was awesome. Other stuff was good too.

IMO I thought it was one of the best episodes ever, then again, I've missed it so much... almost too much....

"Of course, Lois. Christians don't believe in gravity." :lol

so many things I lol'd at: one was the comic book bit. another was the honeymooners bit where he actually socks his wife along with those scenes already mentioned

It must have been a good episode since I wasn't disappointed. I had high expectations.

My only criticism is that
the allusions felt even more detached and contrived than usual -- though they were the funniest parts

Yeah, I'm going to watch it on TV as an act of support as well.

That's how I felt about the one where he convinces them to go to war in Iraq, but that's it

I'm gonna wait until Sunday to watch this, but a friend checked it out and said a lot of the voices seemed a bit off, as if the actors were rusty. Anyone else notice this?

No..not really. Lois sounds a little funny..but not too noticeable.

Why that one in particular?? Maybe because you're a Bush supporter? ;)

Unless you have a rating box it does not matter

Alright, thanks for the update on the voices. Hopefully I don't really notice.

I stand by my original post it had some dry moments,
Most of the Stewie and Brian Subplot
Good return episode, not single greatest episode ever of Family Guy. I'm thinking some of you missed new episodes of Family Guy some much your judgement is clouded. We will get a real judge of how good this episode was when more have seen it.

Well, one thing I liked about the
Stewie and Brian thing was the "Die Lois" stitchwork stewie was nonchalantly stitching.

The
North by Northwest "homage"
made me laugh quite a bit. It was practically
shot for shot and it just kept going.

Oh my GOD, just saw it, that was GREAT! I was laughing the whole time.

"That's not nearly as bad as when I forgot how to sit down!"

That had EVERYTHING in it it should have had in it.
Even the blackie weather forecast guy! "HE'S GONNA GET IT!"

:lol :lol :lol

I didn't think the episode was that great.
The entire Passion of the Christ 2 was very predictable but I did love the Chris Tucker impression. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the appearance of GI Joe which to me was funniest part of the show, especially since it was pretty much an exact copy of those public service announcements they used to do with GI JOE drawn in the same style, with the flag in the background and hanging chorus. The parts with Peter stealing Mel Gibson's movie seemed somewhat similar to a recent Simpson's episode where Homer and Mel were doing the same thing for the sake of America.

Yeah,
the GI Joe part was hilarious. That was one of my favorite parts too.

"Now we know!"
"And knowing is half the battle."
"G.I. JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOE!"

Fabulous. The look on Stewie's face after Brian said the "upside-down face" line was pretty classic too.

Good episode all around. Perfect as a "triumphant return" sort of episode.

Thinks he should have been the one to kill Batman's parents.

I agree that the
PotC
plot is a tired joke itself, but I think everyone can agree that making fun of
Mel Gibson, the creepy douchebag
is always a good thing. I assume that some portion of the new episodes were written awhile back and might not feel terribly fresh (hi, American Dad!). All in all, it was very entertaining and I had some good laughs.

I thought it was funny, but not the greatest episode ever. No way. A lot of it felt forced. And the Passion of the Christ thing is ooooooooold. Jeez. How long does it take to make an episode? They need newer things to parody. I couldn't believe they were talking about that movie. lol...so very old

Lathentar

Looking for Pants
I thought it was a terrible episode. I laughed twice. Once during the intro and the other during the
GI JOE
joke.

I'd expect the series opener to be a lot more entertaining, considering they had a number of years to work on it.

No point of spoiler-proofing things. This entire thread is spoiler-filled.
Nobody mentioned the Jughead scene. That was hilarious too!

Those TV spots just sadden me. I thought that maybe, just maybe, for once a return season of a show could be just as good as the last one, but noooooooo! Everything in these commercials made the show look terribly stupid and absolutely NOT funny. :(

The show lost none of its appeal. Don't worry.

Emmmm, they were written before the show was cancelled.

And just to be sure, I can promise you that the show hasn't missed a step.... though why would it at this point...

I've never watched Family Guy regularly, but have always liked what I saw.

Watched the leak last week, and I've since seen it 4 times. Awesome stuff.

I didn't realise Jake's dad was the newscaster until I read the spoiler above. Now it's funnier. :lol

It's true that they had a whole slew of scripts that never went into production, but this one obviously is not one of those, not when The Passion of the Christ was released more than a year after the last Family Guy episode aired, let alone when the cancellation went through.

All the clips in commercials have been from other episodes.
