It's crazy how the entire cast dies in Episode 1, you'll love it!
Brief spoilers for episode 1.

For the first 15 minutes I was thinking none of the team were back given the long gap between seasons and time skip(?).....Phew. Also the ginger bird, Halley is at it I reckon possibly the outie version playing double agent?. Also did everyone clock Keanu Reeves???????

I think spoilers for the episode should be out in the open after it has aired personally but im airing on the side of caution until everyone has at least seen the first one.

Good timing. Most of us have been waiting for season 2 for 3 years.

It is fantastic isn't it?

The fact the outtie en Innie are different people but still the same. Also if the innie goes out and the outtie decides to quit the innie would be 'dead'. Fucks a bit with my mind. Also just the mistery about what they are working on. Hopefully not some bullshit LOST situation.

Great idea for a show, gotta hand it to Ben Stiller.

Yeah the longer you think about it the further down the rabbit hole you go.

Sounds like they have the arc laid out unlike LOST, hopefully. Its very clever, i can't imagine making something this good up as they go along.

I don’t know if I go back and watch severance season 1 years from now it works for the times and we don’t know how it will age, LOST, Dexter etc. today feel eh, brilliant shows but I don’t know. Breaking bad I thought was perfect and can still work today.

My issue with the situation is that the "innie" personality basically never leaves work. Granted, there are little rewards given to them, but the basic human need for some level of release and relaxation is totally absent. They can't even 'sleep' really, its basically 24/7 work from their perspective.

Obviously you can see the cracks this causes in the characters, but my issue is with the very notion that this is some sort of sustainable business practice AT ALL. It's an even more extreme version of the Phillip K. Dick "Paycheck" story, where a guy does a stretch of work that he will later have wiped. Ben Affleck was in the film version. But in that idea the person had a "normal" life on the job, they just wouldn't remember whatever horrible thing they had to do LATER. I think that's a more interesting "human condition" topic, what would someone do, what horrors, if they KNEW it would be scrubbed from their mind? I'm not sure that's what we are seeing in Severence, unless that weird computer program they use is actually them killing babies or something and it's just what is shown to the audience to keep them in the dark as to the actual nature of their work (I don't think that's the case).

Their work is dropping numbers into 4 boxes that represent the four woes according to Kier/Lumon belief system. That much is known.

Rewatching first season with the Mrs. She is really enjoying it. Almost done so we can start season 2 together. Glad to hear it sounds like they are off to a good start!

I did a rewatch in the weekend for season one. Still quite good, still very exciting finale. Quite a few threads that were set up during the season but didn't get a mention in the finale at all.

I hope season two is just as fun.

Great first episode. Can't wait to see where to go with the story this season

Honestly, season 1 works decently as a standalone story. It wasn't designed as one so obviously a lot of questions are left unanswered, but even if they had cancelled the show for some reason I'd have found the time I spent on it to be worth it.

But I do hope they manage to have a compelling ending and they actually have answers in mind for the miseries.

Holy shit that last episode was… all over the goddamn place. I can’t tell if I loved or hated it.

Also, was it just me or were some of the shots in 48fps? I swear some of the early shots looked abnormally smooth, and I made sure I didn’t have my TV’s frame interpolation smoothing on.

I personally didn't enjoy the episode up until the end.

I just find the transition from end of Episode 3 to beginning of Episode 4 really jarring, they end on such a thrilling cliffhanger and to follow it up they do some boring outdoor trailing with Kier rambling?
I didn't like episode 2 either, just felt like a recap episode and not much new happened. The door factory scene felt pointless, could have been easily cut.

Overall, I'm quite mixed on Season 2. I did not feel like season 1 was mixed in quality.

I don't like this season at all. I was disappointed from the first episode. They basically reset it to go almost back to the start, with all of them just go back to work like nothing really happened in season 1 after all that to expose the company. And after exposing them, no real consequences seem to have fallen on the company.

And it's gone overboard with the weirdness and nonsense, where I found the goat herders particularly silly.

I just watched it tonight. Not my favorite episode. It felt weird just to be weird.

A couple of random thoughts. I will spoiler just in case:
- Someone is going to be pregnant on the outside.

-I do not believe the ORTBO simulation occurred outside. Too many things about it make me believe it happened on a floor in Lumon. Not sure it really matters.

-ORTBO = ROBOT. Were the twins robots? I have thought that clones would be involved at some point but maybe it will be robots instead?

There are currently real innies and outies but there is something else going on that is bigger than just separating work and personal life. The world does feel a bit post-apocalyptic but maybe that is just because it is set in an alternate timeline with a retro vibe.

This episode was weird. Interesting weird but also with lots of filler stuff in it. It did have a good finale.

I think in this one the show feels closer to LOST; maybe there was some intend to make it partially as a tribute to it.

I am very confused about the continuity between the last episode and this one though.

I'm super confused whenever Mark is reintegrated or not.

If he is, why is he having sex with Helly? Aren't his feelings for his previous wife Ms Casey still there? Was that face flashing in the tent meant to indicate he confused the two of them?

So many things unclear.

Yes, the reintegration process is flawed and inconsistent, as we saw with Petey last season.

Apparently, the author of the whole story was working in a door factory when he got the idea for "Severance".
I liked the interview scene - the interviewer looked almost exactly like Dylan's clone, they were 100% in sync until severo-racism kicked in.
Also, this dialogue:
- Flat finish or eggshell?
- Semi-gloss
- That’s hot

-ORTBO = ROBOT
Also, DIETER EAGAN = AI-GENERATED

Agree, the ORTBO video on the hill looked exactly like The Dharma Initiative Orientation!

I believe the reintegration is not a one-time thing but a long process of merging memories. He's just started it, so it will take time. But it will be interesting to learn whether they will notice at Lumon he can't be "switched on" again, as there's only one personality now...?
And Helly is hot, c'mon
Also, this might have been a trap to breed a new Eagan baby or something, in the heart of the sacred place where Kier's (imagined?) brother was j*ing off
Or this was just a simulation, as all these events (especially Helly being waterboarded) were foreshadowed in the "Lumon is listening" claymation video

Reading this thread has me thinking this is all way more deep than I imagined for this show. It really is super interesting what they are doing and im super curious as to wher they go with everything.
