Roughly 30k a week for switch still not bad. Even more-so considering it’s successor is out in 2 months. Not bad that mohun still at the top end of the chart but that ps5 sales spike flatlined real fast for consoles, now back to just above 13k weekly.

Next week will be the really interesting one weither switch 2 direct this week has killed off people’s interest in getting a regular switch now it’s successor is so close.

Well on the bright side, at least PS5 software is finally starting to chart more consistently in the Top 10. At this point PS5's problem in Japan isn't hardware sales, it's software sales. Hardware could drop even a bit more; as long as the software sales remain at this level or get better, that'd be perfectly fine.

And yeah, 30K weeklies for Switch is still great considering almost everyone in Japan already has one, and Switch 2 is coming out in two months (with a special Japan-only version that should do extremely well for that region).

Ps5 is still profitable in Japan, and game developers still loves to create games for ps5, but they need more console sales to build that fanbase again. What would be Sony's next move in Japan once Switch 2 is launch?
The console war is back to both PS and Nintendo.
Price cut is the solution it is as simple as that. Or copy Nintendo switch 2 strategy, build a Japan only Ps5 and ps5 pro to make it cheaper in Japan.

I was missing this thread. Switch 1 waiting to pass the crown to the Switch 2… PS5 waiting for a price drop.

What matters actually is revenue per user. Whether that's subscriptions, digital/physical sales or MTX. PS5 is likely the most profitable console since at least the PS2 in Japan.

~60% drops from the previous game is nothing but a disaster.
