[Software & Hardware Weekly Sales] “Persona 3 Reload”, which has sold over 1 million copies worldwide, starts at number one! “Granblue Fantasy Relink” and “Jujutsu Kaisen Senka Soran” are also in the top 10 [1/29- 2/4]

Sales ranking announced by Famitsu. This time we bring you a summary of estimated weekly game software and hardware sales from January 29th to February 4th, 2024.

This week's ranking shows that out of the top 10 the top 5 titles are first-time titles (3 titles if counted by model). Among them the Playstation 5 version of Persona 3 Reload took first place . This work is a full remake of Persona 3 one of the most popular titles in the series and it is on the latest console. The PlayStation 4 version also ranks third.

According to the manufacturer's announcement, the cumulative worldwide sales of this work (package version shipments + download version sales) exceeded 1 million copies in the first week of release which is the fastest ever for an Atlus title.

Next in second and fifth place were the PS5 and PS4 versions of Granblue Fantasy Relink . This work is an action RPG based on the classic fantasy RPG "Granblue Fantasy" and both versions have sold 70,837 copies.

In fourth place was Jujutsu Kaisen Senka Soran, an action game based on the TV anime Jujutsu Kaisen, which also got off to a strong start.

Seems like the PS4 still has quite an active audience going by the splits. Big current gen only games like FF7R should get more to make the move this year.

Hopefully those active PS4 users upgrade to a PS5 later this year. But I think it'll take a price decrease of the PS5 first.

Decline in PS5 after the end of the Spiderman bundles indicates to me that the console is still being held back by price.

Software-wise, we've reached the point where PS5 versions ars opening higher than PS4 versions. The next step is for the PS5 versions to have better legs.

You mean average?

With Rebirth it will average higher across the year imo. 30k+
Baseline is a console's sales without the impact of any particular event. Rebirth's effect would add sales on top of the baseline.
I was just referring to software, , Sony has a good slate of games, Nintendo is weaker
For Japan, Nintendo had a noticeably stronger slate of games for Q4 2023, while Sony has a noticeably stronger slate of games for Q1 2024.

For the rest of the calendar year we don't have enough information to make a proper judgement.

kind of low, yeah. Persona 5 did 330k first week for comparison. That being said, it's a remake, digital is probably a higher share of sales now, plus the game launched on PC, so who knows.
I agree that the sales seems low, persona 5 completely obliterated it in its homeland but with the game selling over 1 million world wide first week does atlus care? Does the game need to do that great in japan or is it better that it does better worldwide?

Can't believe that mid dragon quest game from last year outperformed ff16, granblue and persona 3 over there... all much better games

They might care. For Persona 5, just a couple days after release in the west, they announced the game sold over 1.5 million copies.
1 million for Persona 3 in the first week might sound like a lot, but remember it is the first mainline game that has a global release. Previous games were Japan first, then global some months later. So we don't really know whether it is doing better world wide or not.

I do think Persona games have legs though, so I'm sure it's fine.

Persona no longer being solely associated with Playstation also might be playing a factor. I wouldn't be surprised if P5 Tactica sold just as well on Switch, if not better.
