FANTASIAN Neo Dimension will be Nobuo Uematsu’s final game as a composer of video game music (Update: not retiring from video game music work)

Hopefully he still composes for other things because he specifies that this is his last vg project, but wow, what a loss for vg music.

Godspeed Mr. Uematsu and thank you for the incredible music.

"It is said to be a remake of the original Fantasian with the same basics, but with many additional elements added and balance adjusted."

The original Fantasian is from 2021, at which time it was already known that it was going to be Uematsu's last full OST. He has since contributed to, e.g., Final Fantasy Rebirth's soundtrack, and will probably continue to do odd requests in the future. So hardly newsworthy?

A shame but he has had a great career and at his age I can understand if he wants to take it easy and not work on such big projects anymore.

I do remember checking out the Fantasian OST when it first came to iOS and didn't really like it though

Wait I thought he already said FF7 Remake Part 3 would be his final game? Or is he already done with that?

I assume this is his last full game.

I'd expect him to contribute for the final FF7 game as he did with Rebirth.

(then hopefully FF10R as his FINAL ever contrbiution to games) PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

I'd agree to this, or FF9R. Either would be a beautiful ending to an amazing career.

It was published today, though. Which does indeed make it newsworthy. It wasn’t published back in 2021. And likely some of the implication here is that he’s done new work for the console release.

Often imitated, never duplicated. This dude is a legend and composed some of my favorite soundtracks, game or otherwise.
