Far Cry 3 |OT| Sex, Drugs, and the Call of Battle in the Uncharted

This.

I just hope the enemies do not spot you the moment you fire a shot. The AI can be so ridiculous at times in certain games. I am sitting between leaves and trees and the moment I fire they know exactly where I am. That shit completely removes the fun of stealth.

looks ok on paper, but open world games sometimes tend to do whatever the hell they want

Stealth is now more realistic:
-In Far Cry 2, enemies can see you from miles away, through foliage even. Far Cry 3 dials this
back and makes stealth a lot more usable. Sneaking up behind enemies, take-downs, silenced weapons
and throwing rocks to distract enemies are all part of the stealth game-play now.

This sometimes happen with some people if they have difficulty focusing their eyes on a single point on the screen. Valve addressed that in Portal 2 - you had the option to put a single dot right in the middle of the screen. No, the blue/orange outline was not enough, my gf also had trouble playing the game because of that, her head stopped hurting only when we turned on the dot.

When you see people on YT playing FPS games and moving very slowly and turning imprecisely - that's what is happening.

I've read Half-lifes and Portals seem to be on the motion sickness list for many, but I could play them without a single problem, so I don't think it's difficulty focusing on a single point (in my case).
The only games I remember giving me this are Far Cry 2 (the worst offender), Dead Island and Dark Sector. Again, I could play the last two (albeit not for long sessions), but I had to stop with Far Cry 2.

I had a similar issue, seemed to be from low fov and a very bad motion blur effect, which seems to be gone now.

I remember also a lot of head bobbing. :/
Haven't read anything about motion blur in Far Cry 3, so I don't really know if it's better now, but isn't the FOV still reportedly low?

Can't wait, more Far Cry 2 awesome. It's just a shame that they went with the tropical route again, really liked the Africa setting and would have loved to see more wilderness... maybe somewhere very cold.

Man total opposite for me. I got tired of Africa, god damn desert shooting black people inflicted with malaria. Bring me back to the jungle baby!

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
Graphics Settings

Far Cry 3's many options are spread out across several menus. In the Video menu you select between DirectX 9 and 11, Multithreading options, MSAA Anti-aliasing (up to 8X), and SSAO to name a few. Ubisoft earns points with PC gamers by including a FOV slider that goes from 0.75 all the way up to 1.5, which should be a more than comfortable range. Then there's Calibration, from which you can adjust brightness, contrast, and gamma. Lastly there's Video Quality, which lets you adjust a lot of factors like texture quality, lighting, shadows, vegetation, etc.

bloody hell, so this is what a gaming pc looks like nowadays. it's a thing of beauty. what's the glowing thing? I wish I had the tech know-how and skill to build my own pc. wow.

His fan has LED lights on it. You can do it man, just read up and ask in the PC thread in gaming.

Also very nice and neat system L0st. My pre built Falcon weeps, and fly's awayyyyy.

A fan that blows air. lol

I was going to skip this after FC2 but with these reviews... Man it sounds great. Just trying to figure out if my laptop will run it better than my 360.

Super disappointing at the benchmarks. I'm looking to buy a new GPU and I still think I'll be disappointed after spending like... £170

Also blows my mind how SLI has kind of become an expectation of high end PC gaming.

So bummed that neither this or AC3 are on UK Steam :( Oh well, time to maybe buy a physical copy after all this time :)

If that benchmark Dennis posted truly is with AA disabled I am truly fucked with my GT 530.

That benchmark doesn't resemble the supposed minimum and recommended specs at all, does it?

People who asks Ubisoft for a No HUD option

Dennis
Neuromancer
CambriaRising
ii Stryker
Puppet Shadow
GrizzNKev
Palette Swap

Can we not do this petition shit in here? It's not going to work even if the entire GAF userbase signs up for it and it's just cluttering up the damn thread.

Scheisse. I have a GTX 660 and was planning on playing this game on PC. Guess I won't.
What? Are you saying you'll skip this entirely or that you'll get the console version instead (which will both look and run worse)? PC games have graphics options for a reason...

Been playing it since Wednesday for review purposes and it's incredible.

I haven't done many missions, I've been spending most of my time hunting animals, crafting new gear and taking radio towers.

However, I'm yet to find anyone playing the online co-op or multiplayer. If anyone on here has it and fancies a game then let me know. EDIT: On 360

If you have any questions then ask away and I'll answer as best I can, although most stuff is probably covered in reviews/trailers etc.

If you can, shoot/snipe an enemy in the legs and see if they injured and limp around asking for help and then snipe the other guy coming to help like in Far Cry 2. Is wounding an enemy rather than outright killing them possible?

I haven't seen that happen as of yet but then again I haven't aimed at people's legs. I usually just use the bow as it's my only silent weapon at the moment.
