His 4th album is finished up, entitled Palookaville, and it is much better than that rubbish that was the Gutter and the Stars. I was beginning to wonder what happened to the real Fatboy sound...I still listen to his first 2 records. It's not exactly back to the greatness of You've Come a Long Way Baby, but he goes in a more funky direction with Palookaville. I can actually listen to the entire album without skipping a track, which I couldn't do with the last disc.

And as an added bonus, there's no Macy Gray to be found on the record!

The single off the record is "Slash Dot Dash", which most people describe as the new "Rockefeller Skank".

Yeah I wanna hear that new Fatboy song... Which one? You know, uhhh... the Funk Soul Brother... I don't know which one.. Sing it! Right about now, the funk soul brother, check it out now, the funk soul brother...

Yeah, Gutter and Stars was a pretty weak album, but you have to admit, the cover was perhaps one of the greatest of all time.

I'm really enjoying Palookaville (save for Bootsy Collins' cover of "The Joker, which might be too cute for its own good). The album definitely has a more laid-back hip-hop feel to it (although about a third of it is classic Fatboy Big Beat).

I was a fan of Gutter, though (again save for at least Macy Gray's "Love Life"). "Weapon of Choice", "Song for Shelter", "Talkin about my Baby", and "Drop the Hate" all added up to a pretty good album to me.

I'd be tempted to describe it as utter shite, considering it sounds like the Rockefeller Skank with an angry man shouting "SLASH DOT DASH DOT SLASH DOT DASH DOT" over it for 3 minutes.

He started off well with things like Santa Cruz & Everybody Needs a 303, but this overly commercial stuff is awful. I'm especially disappointed in Bootsy Collins being involved in it.
