Some of these would be a lot easier to accept if you guys would just admit that you've only heard like five albums this decade. Jesus.

No, I think it's directed at those who listed Jimmy Eat World, Franz Ferdinand and Interpol.
I've bought like 20-30 albums of music released this decade. JEW and Franz, sure, but Interpol deserves far, far more credit than they recieve. Hell, I'd easily take Interpol over the Postal Service, Rammstein, Nas, Jay-Z, even Tool. It's all subjective anyway.

Like I said, it was perhaps a premature choice, but it would probably still be between Turn on the Bright Lights, APC's Thirteenth Step, or Radiohead's Kid A, regardless.

As far as the last five years go, I have to go with Kid A. Obvious choice, but I can't think of an album that impressed me more.

I prefer Phantom Power to Rings Around The World, myself.

It's damn hard to pick a favorite album of the decade. I'll go with Songs: Ohia's Ghost Tropic (even though it's probably not).
It's great, but I feel like it's a slight album compared to RAtW. Either way, SFA is my favorite band in the entire universe and I love everything they've done.

I suppose my favorite is Guerrilla, but that came out in 1999.

I've never even heard Medulla. The prospect of hearing Mike Patton on a couple tracks scared me away. That, and Bjork's voice kind of makes me sick these days.

I think I'm going to revisit Kid A now that I'm at home and have access to my CD collection. It's pretty much, IMO, the only Radiohead album that matters.

I was going to say Sigur Ros - Ágætis Byrjun, but I then realized that that was released in 1999. :(

So I'll have to go with:

Explosions in the Sky - Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever

I'm proud of you guys with all "the Meadowlands" love. I concur entirely. Although Patrick Wolf's "Wind in the Wires" hasn't been out that long, I'm pretty sure it'll be way up there for me. The Decemberists' "Castaways and Cut-Outs" ranks way up there, too.

My favorite album of the 90s would pretty easily be The Mollusk by Ween. ;P

Yeah, The Meadowlands is pretty much as good as it gets. It took me a couple listens to fully "get" it, but oh man, it's so perfect and crushing and rocking and amazing. I just wish they would hurry their asses up and get more stuff out! Oh god they're touring again this summer, seeing them in July, I cannot wait!!

Probably...

I love my smaller and indie bands, but start to finish I can't think of a more fun and enjoyable listen. Second is probably Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head which I find to be as good now as the first time I heard it. Don't Believe the Truth isn't out yet officially, or it might be #1. Can't wait for X&Y. :D :D

From the 90's, it'd be Morning Glory although there's a lot of albums that challenge it (A Northern Soul, Urban Hymns, The Man Who, OK Computer, Odelay, Fashion Nugget, among others).

I've seen that album - LP - around, swoon, but I have no idea what kind of music they make. I know they're from a city that's like 20 minutes from Dallas, where I live, but that's it.

it's shoegazer stuff. one guitar (played through an organ amp) bass and drums. it's fucking amazing also, i mean songs about jesus coming to texas how could you go wrong. but yea it's worth the blind pick up.

this isnt' even their best release this decade, much less anything else.

Which one do you think is better? "March on Electric Children" is probably my favorite but the last three are all pretty close in my eyes...er, ears.

I've never heard Zaireeka, and I don't know why. :(
You, sir, are missing out. Find someone that has it, or get it yourself, throw a zaireeka listening party- it's meant to be social. And it's different every time you hear it!
