The local Oldies radio station switched to an "all Christmas song" format basically the day after Thanksgiving. Seems like financial suicide to me.....are there really people that sit around flipping out because they can't find any Xmas music on the radio? Do people want to listen to this stuff on the infuriating drive to/from their work?
OTOH, this means that even the poorest shop, laundrymat, and doctor's office can now pipe in constant Christmas tunes. And boy are they doing it....
So anyway, what songs (if any) do you like? What makes your skin crawl? Any recommendations?

The Little Drummer Boy by Tori Amos is pretty good, though you probably will never hear it unless Clear Channel decides to put it on the playlist for Generic "Alternative" Station #2089.
Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree is cool enough. Though it's ironic how the song doesn't do anything close to "rocking".
Doing laundry yesterday I heard some old big band sounding tune that I liked. It was about the Christmas blues....how the holiday just seems like a child's thing if you don't have someone to love....lamenting the loneliness of the season. If someone knows the name/artist, please tell me. There should be more sad Xmas songs.
Hated
(Simply Having) A Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney makes me want to slit someone's throat. I don't remember hearing it much in the past, but this year it seems to be fucking everywhere. The vocals and rhythm are terrible, and all the music comes from a circa 1989 Casio Keyboard. I can't imagine anyone liking the song, and assume that it would get no play if it weren't for the association with McCartney.
Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. This should need no explanation. Totally obnoxious, totally hokey. This horrifying novelty song should have been shelved years ago.
Pretty much all the religious songs, excluding "We Three Kings"
