Lack of a record can be evidence in itself, you realize.

They also keep records so the other crooks they work with can't stiff or try and cheat them. Anyone working with huge amounts of money is going to keep a record of it because the downsides of not keeping said records can be immense.

You would think he would have moved or destroyed anything incriminating long ago but there is also that outside chance he keeps his most life saving rainy day shit hits the fan stuff close to save his own skin and hold others over the coals.

Hopefully they got all computers and cell phones. They need to look and see if there are any Gmail drafts or deleted texts.

The most impressive thing is that Trump managed not to whine about this on Twitter that whole time.

Or maybe they just didnt tell him.

In any other presidency, this would be a major story with 150 pages or more on GAF. But with Trump, major stories like this just feel like a Wednesday.

But make no mistake, Trump and friends are shitting bricks right now.

I look forward to the fake surprise that everyone in Congress and elsewhere will tweet when Manafort is arrested.

You know, I'm cool with leaks coming from the Trump administration (to an extent, no classified data and sensitive info and stuff), because I want that shit to be as nonfunctional as possible. But I can't say I'm happy at the FBI or Mueller's investigation being leaky. I know two weeks is actually pretty good comparatively, but I'd rather that they just be able to do their investigations in peace. Stuff like this just complicates their job.
This.

After this Trump miasma is all said and done, I think then we'll actually have to open the conversation on "leakers" because in a more just Administration, leaks could be very harmful. There's also the argument that it's only this leaky because of Trump, which is certainly highly possible. But lets hope things return to normal, soon afterwards.

If you ever needed proof that the Trump base of the the_donald and other places are either entirely a legion of bots, or the ones that are not bots are 100% sheep who just repeat whatever talking point they are given en mass, their big defence of this is "it was three weeks ago, if there was anything found we'd have heard about it so there was nothing found".

This is proof that they just repeat the talking point they're given without thought because every one of them is saying "three weeks" specifically.

It was two weeks ago, not three. None of them noticed this.

The fact the FBI raided his residence is a big deal. To get warrants to go in and take stuff means a Judge signed off with probable cause and certainly suggests they did not feel subpoena power was enough to guarantee compliance with demands.

Throw in the National Enquirer suddenly having a sex scandal and you know shits going down

They woke him up by knocking on his BEDROOM door. That's how serious this was.

1/ Predawn raid on Manafort's house is stunning- typical of serious criminal investigations dealing w uncooperative or untrusted targets

2/ Fed judge signing warrant would demand persuasive evidence of probable cause that a serious crime has been committed

3/ This kind of raid- in early morning hours w no advance notice- shows astonishing & alarming distrust for Pres’s former campaign chairman

4/ Raid decimates Manafort's claim of cooperation with law enforcement– it reflects evidence connecting Manafort to criminal wrongdoing

5/5 Significant step reaffirms my reasons for urging a Special Counsel&redoubles my determination to protect investigation from interference
