FE: Path of Radiance rambling

Finally got around to this. Just finished Normal earlier, been working on Hard (currently up to the prison break).

Anyways, thoughts -

I miss the Dark/Anima/Light magic triangle from the GBA games. It just seemed better implemented than leaving light a neutral. Plus, dark mages are really cool.

It was cool to be able to move again after attacking on mounted units, but there were times when it made things a bit easier than they probably should have been.

Laguz units were cool (the lion in the last fight rocks), but there has to be a better idea than shifting them back and from from incompetents to badasses every few turns.

I'm way too much of a perfectionist to play through these games properly. Honestly, what's the point of restarting to save a character so that you can finish with 30-odd scrubs that keep going unused?

Reyson was RIDICULOUS. Second turns for four characters at once?

Animations were terrible across the board. Didn't take me long to turn them off. Shame, as I really enjoyed the GBA attack animations....

Bonus experience is a Good Idea and should always be in these things.

The little attack scrolls that you could use to customize your characters were a good idea, poorly implemented. Too much of it was about giving them a randomly activating super attack, rather than a specific ability or attribute that can be relied upon.

I liked selecting the secondary abilities upon promotion (always go with the bows!). I'd say it worked about as well as the promotion tree in the Sacred Stones.

Anyays, it was a fun game. Didn't have too rough a time with it, so maybe I'm getting better at these things. I'm liking that so many have come out over the past few years. Making up for lost time! But, I'd say I'm at a point where I'd get more excited about a Tactics Ogre game.....
