Fear of Women

The Lunch Legend

GAF's Nicest Lunch Thief and Nosiest Dildo Archeologist
In some societies, most particularly in some Arab states of the Middle East, women are treated with disdain, and in some cases considerable violence. I'm wondering why exactly this may be? Things were pretty rough in this part of the world also, going back a few generations, but after all folks, this is the 21st century.

Fear is a great motivator of human behavior, and is seems like it is at work here. Or is there another explanation for keeping women excluded, disenfranchised, dependent, and abused? What is it that incites so much angst in men in these societies when the emergence of women as independent beings is proposed?

Polygamy in some parts of the Middle East, along with strict religious laws against sex outside of marriage, creates a significant population of resentful incels at the bottom of the social hierarchy.
You didn't point out the main problem, the islamic prophet said women are inferior, in many different ways. An extension of pre islamic trends in the region.

Everything else comes with it, creating a patriarchal society. Even if incels do exist there, their behavior and thought process are most probably much more different than their supposed western counterparts, simply because men dominate over women in arab nations still, unlike the west.

Arab countries have respect for women. They have their own way of showing it. A famous Arab saying: "If you do well by mothers, you will build civilizations."

How much respect do you think women get when they think they're handed respect by showing off their tits and butts in public? I think that's much more disrespectful. Hence, the #MeToo movement.

Having choice is respect, but making the wrong decision with that ability and thinking you have respect is stupid.

The ban on extramarital sex applies to both men and women the same way. It's not disrespectful toward women. The ban on extramarital sex shows the value attributed to family units. Children out-of-wedlock are very few compared to western countries where single mothers often have to bear the burden of raising a child. A child who would grow up without the other parent or other adult family members in the household.

Furthermore, it reduces the spread of STDs.

Where on earth other than the collective shitheap that is the middle east do you find women stoned to death, forced to wear sheets over their bodies and not allowed out of the house without a male relative?

Ok probably Sweden but where else?

Mexico?

Not defending the Middle East, but you don't have to go far to find atrocities.

In pre islamic arabia, a woman could participate in and organize orgies. If she got pregnant whoever she picked as the father had no choice but to accept. Women could also fuck around with boyfriends.

Hell, if a man thought he was not good quality enough he could let his wife go to a better, smarter/stronger man get fucked by him and produce better quality offspring

Islam obliterated these practices.

Muslim men are to follow mo's example, except the over a dozen wives bit that's exclusive to the servant of god lol. More and more muslim women are refusing to fulfill their religious roles, and when confronted with how blasphemous that is will either go silent or bullshit their way out instead of seeing the religion for what it is.

Basically christianity just a bit delayed is what's happening there.

Its ok. We all have bad days. Maybe one day you guys will elect someone with sense to save your country, I doubt it but stranger things have happened.

Plenty of Swedes living in the Baltics who don't like what your caliphate has become too

Cause not allowing them to drive, show their face, sit in front seats of vehicles and making them walk ten feet behind their husbands is soooo respectful.
Muslim religion is a fucking curse on this planet more than anything that's ever come before it. Muslims don't like dogs as taught by Mohammed. You know why? Cause he was a thief and they made his way of life difficult.
Dont even get me started.

That's one theory, sure. But freedom of choice and freedom to make mistakes is, no matter how you slice it, a greater degree of respect for agency and freewill, including the negative consequences, than having a phrase that boils down to 'women will be respected if they know their place as child bearers' which is another way of looking at that famous arab saying you quoted.

Not that I'm singling arabs out here, or saying that all of them have the same backwards view of the word.

There's broken groups, cultures and societies worldwide that will claim the sun shines out of their arse's as they take a massive shit on huge swathes of people. No country is free of such people.

From my own experience, the reality is far more hit and miss amongst the hundreds of arab/muslim people I've known both personally and professionally.

Having worked in the education system and knowing others who work in Social Services in the UK, it certainly seems to often not work in practice and results in a disproportionate amount of abuse, violence and overt sexism both towards native women and their own wives, daughters and mothers.

It's simply a more common problem amongst that group from my experience, I can't pretend otherwise, but far from unique or even the worst offenders.

I've seen the same utter contempt for women amongst pretty much everyone to a lesser or greater degree.

If I had to identify one common thread between those I've seen or known of acting that way, it's a blasé acceptance of the behavior by their peers combined with overly strict social conventions that dictate behavior, be it a religious doctrine, traditional values or simple economic pressure.

In more primitive societies, the "might makes right" rule would be the standard I'd expect. If you're physically capable of dominating someone and the legal infrastructure isnt there to protect them, then you can get away with bossing them around. With this in mind, women are the obvious victims, I guess islam doesnt help, but that culture would still exist in the society without it.

Afraid is the wrong word; it's more that women aren't seen to have any value. It's a cultural and societal belief that women are secondary class citizens in a hierarchical society. Take foreign workers for instance; East Asian workers in the region are treated as slaves, African and Filipino women brought in to perform domestics jobs are barely even considered human, they can even be bought and traded over phone apps........

There are indeed a lot of places where women are regarded as second classes citizens throughout Northern Africa and Eastern Asia. There are generally places where woman have less rights or otherwise treated with inequality but those two areas seem to stand out as areas where the idea of a women even having any semblance of equality would come with a massive 'but why?' level of confusion.

This is a topic that is very deep (and I assume we will get into all of that). You can even take the United States as a lesser example. Women were not able to vote, and couldn't do as many things as a man could. Is it because someone just spun the wheel one day and said "fuck women?" Or is it because we understood men and women had different abilities and traits? The whole voting thing was somewhere in the ballpark of men getting the say since they were bringing in the money and doing the work, while able to remove emotion from the decisions. It's controversial, but it can be argued that running the society and providing was seen as more of a biological male role while women's role is to raise the family. Not to say that I don't believe women should vote. However, the forefathers seemed to have some type of foresight that our Liberal politics ignore today. Now everything we do is trenched in emotion. Definitely something to ponder.

Some countries, or even just a subset of their people, take it too far. Some see women only as sexual objects. Some see them as their servants. Some have given women too much power. Whatever the case is, it will continue to be a popular political topic for both genders.

Women can be scary. Have you ever watched what happens to a woman when you tell her she is fat and needs to exercise more?

It's good exercise for you, at least.
