I played alot of Goldeneye multi and Perfect Dark multi. And it's hard to see in 4 player split. it's not a majority of gamers wishing for 4 player split.

I don't know why you think you speak for "the majority of gamers" but you are seriously mistaken.

A) Big TV = Easy to see in split screen

B) Many of my friends don't have a console

C) Most of my friends don't have a Broadband internet connection.

We play 4P games all the damn time. And I know lots of other people who do too. I don't know what the percentages are but I'd be willing to bet its a feature a lot of people use. What about Champions of Norrath, DnD heroes, or other non-splitscreen games? What about Golf or other sports games? I don't want to have to pass a controller around like a hot potato.

In short, you are wrong on this issue.

PS - You can bet MS and Nintendo will have 4 ports on their new consoles. Sony better damn well put 4 on the PS3 or I will declare them money-grubbing whores.

That's how it is for me as well. Online gaming is fun, yes, but split-screen gaming is a must for me. Let's see.. it's a Friday night, we head on over to a friend's house, and there's a few of us sitting around.. let's see.. which of the following happens?
1: We all drive back home to play online through our consoles or PC, enduring the typical computer hassle stuff, and the fact that only about half of us actually have a decent internet connection (can't get broadband where I live). Plus, this would require all of us to own the same game as well (which I don't think has happened since StarCraft )
2: All of us bring over our PCs and/or game consoles for a big LAN party! Yeah right..
Far too much work, and not enough TVs if we're playing with the consoles.
3: Four player splitscreen! What a brilliant idea.. Very little hassle, we're all in the same room yelling at each other, and life is good.

I think I'll choose option 3, thank you.

I'm not saying online gaming sucks. It certainly doesn't. I've put a huge amount of hours into StarCraft, Jedi Knight, etc. to know that online does rock. But so does splitscreen. And it's essential for that tradition of the consoles to keep having those four player splitscreen games..

Regionless. This evil creature has been ruining my import gaming for the last two generations, and I'm sick of having to go through the extra effort to mod my console
just to play foreign titles. Make your console anti-piracy as you want, just lemme play
imports without hassle...
