Is it any good?
Be careful how you answer this. Anyway, I can't wait for my friend to get this since she's a notorious pirate. I'll let you all know when I listen to it at her house.

I see what you did there. ;)

this album is unreal... so good... and it's streaming >>>HERE<<<... just gotta give your e-mail.

but it's definitely on a darker level... a bit poppy... very consistent... could be my favorite feist album

Love the album (been using the stream for a couple of days). The Bad in Each Other and Anti-Pioneer are my current favourites.

I've just listened to this and I have to say that nothing really stands out for me on the first go. I am a huge fan of her first two albums but so far I'm left a little wanting after this one. It feels like something is missing. I expected another intimate evening with Feist and I'm not sure that's what I got. I'll give it another few plays, but that's my first impression.

Been listening to this for a few days. Definitely a grower. Bad in Each Other and Comfort Me are just pure awesome. Spewing I'm probably going to miss her tour :-/

excited about this... let it die was a classic, imo. the reminder was decent as well.

i think she'll play coachella next year.

It's very low key. Doesn't sound as bright or "poppy" as The Reminder. Think more Let It Die.
Agreed. I loved that album, and Have enjoyed Metals so far. It's Feist. Of course I'm going to listen to it.

I LOVE "The Greatest" and I fear this is what is gonna happen with the next Cat Power record.

Pretty funny to think it was probably the iPod Touch commercial that made the last Feist album sell like crazy.

It's pretty ballsy to come out with a record like this after The Reminder. I can't wait to listen some more to it.

... Also, I just realized the she is on the cover.

After repeated listens I must say that this is her strongest and most consistent album. 'A Commotion' is now my favorite song of hers. Compare the intro to Spoon's 'The Ghost of you lingers' btw :)

I saw her live in Brussels a few weeks ago. I must say that it was quite the experience. 'Metals' is even better live. It packs such a punch. Songs became more powerful and she was helped by 3 backing singers. It helped that the acoustics of the place were really good, but her voice is a force of nature. Highlights of the evening were Graveyard, Undiscovered First, Bad in Each Other and of course the unreal A Commotion. Yes, all Metals. She did some stuff off the other albums, but none of them had the punch of the Metals songs.
She closed with Let it Die, at which point she invited couples on stage to slow dance.

First time I saw her live and I won't forget it soon.

That's one of my favorite singers crossed off the list. If only Neko Case would come to Europe sometime.

She does have a really incredible voice and I think most of these songs would be 5x better in a live setting. I do think the album could be bolstered by one or two pop singles. The album is fine as is, but something even low key but beautiful like Brandy Alexander would probably help wih full replays. I tend to skip around with this album for whatever reason.

I'm listening to this album now, and I have to say that this is way better than The Reminder, which I hated.

It really is quite cohesive, force yourself to give it one solid go round without skipping

No I have heard it at least 2-3 times all the way through and like it but I think the cohesiveness makes it hard to single out one or two songs that completely blow me away. Don't get me wrong I actually like this album a lot more than the more in your face St. Vincent album, but it is a very subdued and understated album. There is more focus on actual lyrics than Feist's voice which is certainly a change for me. Whoever disliked The Reminder though...I can't believe that. It was probably one of my favorite albums that year.

While I didn't dislike The Reminder, I think Metals is the better album overall, just with less highs.

It actually may be a more fully realized album. I have a feeling that The Reminder being so huge, having so many singles, and such a humungous tour (check that Reminder tour DVD for an idea of how much effort she put into the tour-making these lady gaga/kanye light shows look like glorified karaoke) just made her not wanna do something that would need to match those expectations. Sorta like the reset that Radiohead did after Ok, Computer. In the process of trying to avoid those comparisons, both Feist and Radiohead seemed to release very good albums.

Looking forward to listening this, gotta get me some Feist.

For some reason she reminds me of Imogen Heap/Frou Frou.
