FF7: Advent Children delayed in U.S.

Wonder why that anime short isn't going to be on the US edition. I know plenty of people who are going to be upset about that.

This is the first time I've seen a release date pushback embargoed for a print feature.

I guess that pretty much makes up my mind as to whether or not I'll buy AC during Tokyo Game Show.

Hey Kobun, you made it into my latest blog entry.

Kind of hard to be disappointed when it's not much of a surprise. I'm just happy Cait Sith is back.

I just started a new game of VII last night to get hyped up again. Anytime I start to lose interest in it or think it hasn't aged well just playing the opening scene gets me back into it instantly.

Since it's coming straight to DVD and UMD, November release doesn't bother me too much. I'll most likely pick it up on DVD when it's released.

My guess is they heard the first attempt at the dub and thought it was too good, so they sent the actors back to the recording studio to make the voice acting more wooden and stilted.

Feck. So anyone think that sales will go down from what they would have been for a simultaneous release from people downloading it and watching it in the interim, and deciding not to buy it? I suppose those people would not have bought it in the first place...

I swear, Square Enix is never going to release another game again, just keep pushing back release dates. ITS ALL VAPORWARE.

I'm not sure why anyone expected Last Order to be INCLUDED in the R1 release. It's not even like the Japanese are getting something with AC that you're not, since they're paying THREE HUNDRED BUCKS for it. Think about that. If Last Order was retailing with AC in the US for $300, the same people complaining would be complaining still. At best I expect that Last Order will be released on it's own next year in Japan and the US, but I don't expect to EVER see it as a "freebie" since a 30min brand-new anime OVA is a little much for just a freebie. :P

Wow, Sept 13 is getting kind of close... maybe I should actually man up and take my 7 year old save and go down and fight Sephiroth and beat the damn game.

Wow I'm bad at videogames.

I've got my limited edition package pre-ordered at play-asia. It seems like quite a lot of people will be picking it up as it's already sold out!

Is anybody here actually picking up the JP LE set? $300 is A LOT of money...
For that money, I can go out to a nice dinner with a girl and upgrade my graphics card.

The answer is no.

So all this means is that I'll HAVE TO watch the japanese dubbed version with english subs, on my xbox? I don't see the problem. :)

I can't believe this! And just 20 days away!!!! ERRRRAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!! Come on people, get your act together and stop delaying shit!!! This movie has already taken WAY THE HELL too long to come out anyway.

LOL...Man I know how you feel. I am at the top of the crater and have been for like 4 years. Someday I will go down and beat Sephiroth.

No, you don't "HAVE TO" download the movie. Waiting works fine, or importing the Japanese DVD and reading a plot guide afterwards.

fansubs > dvd subs

I just want to say that this is really really untrue. I used to believe this until I became fluent in Japanese but these days looking at even the best fansub group's work makes me cringe as the translations tend to be awful.

I'll buy it, eventually. But I don't think there's a soul in this GAF that can say it's gonna wait for the american DVD to watch it the first time. :P

I'm a huge fan of FFVII... but I will.
Hell, if I can wait the 7+ months for the translated version of a game, I can wait an extra 2 months for a movie I can understand in my native language.

I am.

Heck even if they decide to release it next year I would wait.

What Drexon said.

You realize this is going to be english fansubbed within like, 24 hours of it's Japanese release right? That's what we're talking about.

I do realize that.
#1. I don't care for subtitle jobs. I'm more forgiving if I'm watching it in historical context (A Kurosawa film- setting is Japan, the language might as well be in Japanese, with subs. A Juenet film like A Very Long Engagement or Amelie- it's in France. Makes sense that they would be speaking in French.) It enhances that particular atmosphere.
Animations, though, I like to keep my eyes glued on the beautiful animation work... not spend the majority of the time reading the dialogue. Just a personal preference.
#2. I especially don't care for fansubs. If I'm gonna buckle down and read a subjob, I want it to be legit. The kind of luck I have, I'd end up with some 3rd year University of Alabama student that thinks he knows Japanese translating this thing. "Cloud, die you are no. Come to Yhuahajsii please with me." No thanks. :D
#3. I don't pirate things. Plain and simple. Even if I plan to buy it down the line, I don't believe in the 'free preview months before I buy' philosophy. Call me a goody-two-shoes or whatever, but that's how it is.

FFVII:AC US dub. I will wait. :)

What, can't read fast enough?

My friend was the same way, too preoccupied with onscreen text that he would miss things...well not anymore, watching enough sub anime and asian movies increased his reading speed substantially. For him the wait is long enough, he'ill watch the movie as fast as the fansubbers will get it out, me I'm a bit more patient.
