FF7R Intergrade PS5 vs Switch 2 comparison video

I haven't.
saying it's close to PS4 in terms of GPU power is not the same as saying it's identical to it.
the Xbox One was close to the PS4 for example, that doesn't mean the PS4 and Xbox One ran games identically.
The problem with that statement is that it's easy to interpret like "it will run the games like a PS4 would", instead of "it is around 49% the power of the PS5" (which is still closer to PS4 in absolute terms).

XSS is also closer to PS4 than to PS5 in terms of TFLOPS and it's a current gen machine (demonstrably so already).

So yeah, Switch 2 is closer to PS4 than to PS5 in terms of RAW performance, yet it's around PS4 Pro before counting in the tech advances.

That's a funny gif but what he's saying is probably correct. What incentive does "kevboard" have to lie in this case? Gamers can never handle criticism of their hypeboxes.

Exactly! I have no doubts that Switch 2 will ultimately outperform the ps4 with DLSS, RT and other modern features. Woulda been nice if there was no question of its power being head and ahoulders above a Ps4 tho. I'm still worried about the memory bandwidth and CPU of Switch 2 to be honest. I'm not that knowledgeable about the intricacies of what makes a particular system tick other than rudimentary comparison of specs, but the mem bandwidth seems low. Concerned at lack of it could affect texture detail and or resolution in games.

the CPU won't be much of an issue, unless you want to port something that barely runs at 30fps on current gen.
the CPU is the one part where it probably absolutely shits all over the PS4.

the amount of optimisations that developers did to make games run well on last gen consoles kinda hides the fact how absolutely awful that CPU was. if the Switch 1 had 8 cores instead of 4 it would already have been basically on par with the PS4's CPU.

Yeah this is bizarre, it's smashing all my expectations.

Now we only need Nintendo's artists to time travel to 2025 so we get high quality visuals in their games as well. Right now it's 3rd party devs that show what the system is capable of.
Just wait until Ocarina of Time...
