Late to the party.... blah blah blah...

So anyway, I'm towards the end of IV and there's this boss character that seems to not want to die. Plague... it's guarding some sort of weapon/equipment, it casts mega super ultra doom, and I die within a round.

a) What the Hell?

b) Seriously, what the Hell?

c) How do I beat this guy?

d) Is it worth it to beat this guy?

e) See (a)

I suggest more leveling, which is usually always the answer for FFIV (with the exception of the Asura fight... which baffled the hell out of me when I was a kid :D)

When I saw the thread title, I was seriously hoping for this:

I'M STUCK IN THE CAVE OF MIST AND IT'S FULL OF MIST.

Levelling, huh? I'm in the 50s, so levelling will take (and I estimate here) FOREVER.

Oh well, I'm not buying a 360 until August, I have the time.

That was an actual complaint sent to the GIA, back in the day. (Or is that where you got it from? ;) )

Well yeah. Some things just stick with you.

Gamefaqs tells me:

As soon as the battle starts, the Plague casts Doom on the entire party, initiating a countdown from 10 to 0. When the timer hits 0, the party members start to die. You should have a single party member already dead entering this fight (for me, it was Edge). Have Cecil attack, Kain jump, Rydia call Bahamut, and Rosa use the Aim command to attack. After the first round or so, when the timers are at 4 or so, have Rosa or another party member use Life on Edge. Bringing back a dead party member will trigger the Plague to recast Doom on everyone, restarting the count from 10. With this extra time, continue the assault and you will win!

I just defeated this nuisance last week. Cecil is around lvl 60 en the rest in the end of their 50's.

Do you have the Crystal sword for Cecil already? That way Edge can throw Excalibur on him for some major damage. Also, buy Ninja stars where you got the Excalibur sword.

Good luck.

Was gonna suggest the 'kill someone then revive them' strategy but it was already posted.

If you have everyone do strong stuff (Jump + throw something or just attack + summon Bahamut or Leviathan + cast Holy) you can just beat him before everyone is dead at around Lv50.

wtf i neve rused the revive strategy and got him down at 2.. but then my guys were mid 60s cause that ff is the best ff ever and all i cared about was lvling my party.

He was the most painful of the weapon bosses though.. great weap for kain though ;)
