FFIVa preview site open, faceplate revealed

So I guess the presence of a "Finest Fantasy For ADVANCE" logo does support the speculation that there will be more ports in the future.

Yep. Here's to hoping FF3 gets shifted over and followed by FF5/FF6. I'd like to see a sprite/tile based FF7 myself too, maybe developed by Jupiter Corp and using the isometric engine they made for KH GBA?

Faceplate is kinda meh :\

And it seems like its not a micro bundle either, just faceplate + software?

I like that even more to be honest.

Yeah, it's a really cool idea. I'd love to see custom faceplates for more games, maybe as part of a special edition version or something.

I bet you'll see a ton of faceplate bundles in Japan, while the US gets nothing.

Kain

Best Final Fantasy theme music

So awesome

I'm going to masturbate to it right now

Ah! I have the FF: Chronicles disk case right next to my ps2 and was planning to play FFIV after Silent Hill, didn't know about this.

Which lets us importers stroke our egos even more so! It's win lose or draw!

the faceplate is hawt.

I have Final Fantasy IV already for the PSone but I'll pick this one also fuck it.

Do we know for sure this is just a faceplate? Maybe they'll do a bundle with the Micro. How many SP bundles did Squeenix do, three? Four?

EDIT: Oh, and that "Finest Fantasy For Advance" logo at the end would indeed suggest that FFV and FFVI are also coming to GBA as part of the Final Fantasy Port Project Make Daddy Enix Some Money, Dammit movement.

But not DS.

Where does that leave FFIII? ahem

That faceplate looks great.

I'll definitely be picking this up but I hope they do some kind of faceplate bundle here as well, if that is what they're planning to do. Still, I will buy the game regardless because it is FF IV.

This truly is the Finest Fantasy, and that faceplate tells you why. This is the first thing that's even registered any temptation in me for a micro. I will also enjoy V and VI Advance versions, and raise my glass to the notion that someday FFIII will make it to these shores.

When they do V and VI, I hope they retranslate them.

It is, IMHO, for its well-defined characters (both in job class and in narrative development) and its adventurous locations (which are so much more resonant because of their relation to our own planetary configuration). FFIV took the wild spacey element from Phantasy Star and really owned the hell out of it, and is now one of the few games I play every year.

But it could also be that it was the first RPG I played on SNES, and I was at quite an impressionable age back then. But I really liked Namingway then, too, so maybe not.

IV is supposed to be the best right?

Well, it's MY favorite(along with FFVI). Depends on what you mean by "best". FFX has the best graphics and and the best battle system. :P Most people would say #6, anyway.

God damn it if they put FFVI on the GBA instead of the DS or PSP. I mean, I only want to be able to own a competent version of the game that can be enjoyed here in europe. First there was the SNES version with partly missing menus because of converter trouble, then came the PSX port that suffered from load times and slowed down speed thanks to the no-effort localization. I guess a butchered soundtrack is up next. Thanks SquareEnix.

FFVI is my favorite, but FFIV is my second one amazing soundtrack and the best FF lead character yup that's FFIV.

For those who were there at the time, it was one of the most special gaming experiences the console world has ever known. It's hard to say how a newcomer would react without the fan blinders on, but I have no such handicap. My FFIV enjoyment knows no bounds.

PUT THIS GAME DIRECTLY IN MY POSESSION TO-DAY PLZ

Amano for life. I don't like the idea of faceplates and customizing your console (just a personal thing) but an Amano faceplate... I like that.

Hopefully, FF3 gets bumped back to GBA. I want FF1-6 in one place. :)

They should start redoing the DQs (again) then for DS.

Well you can still play GBA games on DS. :P

Can't wait for this. FFVI is the best pre-FFVII game in the series, but this is a cloooose second.

For the pre-psx FF games should I get the psx ones or wait for the GBA versions? I guess load times will be better, but I'll be playing on gameboy player so maybe the picture quality won't be so good? PSX ones also have added cut scenes. Going by impressions it's definitely GBA for FF I + II, not sure about IV and V + VI if square ports those too. I hate making decisions like this. :(

Depends on what they do to the games..I much preferred the PS versions of 1 and 2 to the GBA ones (1 was more or less Gamesharked in how it played).

I am going to buy a GBmicro just for that faceplate to play FFIVa.

You win again, Nintendo + Square-Enix

Personally, I'd say the best versions are:

Final Fantasy I = Origins
Final Fantasy II = Dawn of Souls
Final Fantasy IV = Chronicles (For Now)
Final Fantasy V = Anthology (Little Choice Here :P)
Final Fantasy VI = SNES Original

All based on US releases, though, as I don't have any experience with the original FFII, FFV, or any of the WSC ports. Also, if you're curious why I split up FFI & II, click here.

This is what needs to happen...

-Final Fantasy III Advance (Division 2/TOSE)
-Final Fantasy IV Advance (Division 2/TOSE)
-Final Fantasy V Advance (Division 2/TOSE)
-Final Fantasy VI Advance (Division 2/TOSE)
-Final Fantasy VII Advance (Division 1/Jupiter)

-Final Fantasy Tactics DS (Division 4)
-Chocobo Fushugi no Dungeon I+II DS (Division 2/Chunsoft)

...then follow it up with "Dragon Quest for DS"...

-Dragon Quest I+II DS (Division 9/TOSE)
-Dragon Quest III DS (Division 9/TOSE)
-Dragon Quest IV DS (Division 9/TOSE)
-Dragon Quest V DS (Division 9/TOSE)
-Dragon Quest VI DS (Division 9/TOSE)
-Dragon Quest VII DS (Division 9/TOSE)

-Dragon Quest Characters: Torneko no Daibouken I+II DS (Division 9/Chunsoft)

Yep, that's about right.

Easily better compared to FFVIDayCare40FuckingCharactersButIOnlyUse4AtBestAndBTWEspersRGay

FFVI has thirteen or fourteen characters. It's no Chrono Cross.

Edit: I still prefer IV over VI. Cecil is the best main character of any FF game.
