FFXV's future updates adjust chapters, add cutscenes, add playable characters, more

Please.

Baker: *Starts mixing cookie dough*
Store Manager: HEY just bake it already. We've got cookies to sell.
Baker: But we haven't added all the chips in yet.
Store Manager: No time for that now. There's money to make.
Baker: hmm. *bakes cookies*
Customer: *buys expensive ass cookies* Hmm I guess these cookies taste good. But why are there so many cookies with like no chips on them and there is like no consistency in shape and size?
Baker: Come back later we'll give you a bag of chips and maybe more cookies.
Customer: Oh, ok I guess i was just hoping I'd get a completed batch of cookies from the get go. You know like all the past batches.
Baker: Please be excited.
Rabid Customer (foaming at the mouth): Hey you. YEAH YOU! Why are you complaining? The cookies were pretty good considering what we got. I mean these other bakeries are doing it why can't this one.
Customer: But...past batches
Rabid Customer (rolling on the floor foaming at the mouth): BRGHLALAGHR@%@#%!!!!
Manager: BEST BAKE SELL IN HISTORY OF STORE!!!

or is it.

You're missing a part before that

Previous Baker: These are gonna be the best cookies ever *adds raisins*
Manager: Hey, you're taking way too long with these cookies, go work on the cake. You there, come over here.
Baker: *looks at cookies with raisins* fuck.

It's a fools game buying a singleplayer game in the first 3 or so months nowadays. I'm glad they're changing things for the better but I'm going to wait for the definitive edition when it's on PC.

I don't get the deal with some of these people. Complain the game is unfinished or rushed and then bitch about future patches?

As someone who really likes ffxv, knowing that future playthroughs will have something extra is awesome. I'm thinking about it like the way Nier was designed.

You are missing the trifecta of whining.

EXACTLY.

was too bored to type it myself so I settled for just saying that the analogy was plain wrong. You described it perfectly.

I hope this means on top of Iris and Cor becoming party members we also get
Aranea Highwind
becasue she was a real highlight for me becasue her dialogue was great so I would love to keep her in my party.

This is not common at all though.
If you said d1 id agree.

The actual story is not bad at all. The foundation is there, they just have to actually tell the story in the game.
It's not one of those cases were the plot is a convoluted, incomprehensible mess that can't be saved. It's fairly straight forward and makes sense, but as I said, you actually have to tell that story.

This.

On paper the story has some great moments, but it fails in executing them, and things lose their impact. Some lines had me going "huh?" even when having seen Kingsglaive/Brotherhood.

For example
There's no reason why they could not shown the inspection scene/umbra from the Dawn trailers in Lestallum. Maybe even give Jared some more screen-time by having him hide the party in the Leville, and doing a sneaking mission out of Lestallum to get to Ramuh.

Either way I really like that they do this, hopefully the changes will be improvements. Secretly hope they do something similar for FFXIII on PS4 too.

FF fans have to be the most cynical fan base amongst any community.

Game gets played, people complain about a certain issue, issue gets addressed, people complain the issue is getting fixed.

If only there was some sort of department's feedback that is supposed to catch this stuff half a year back. An office of Goodness Checkers if you will.

I haven't even started the game yet and this is telling me to not bother until next year, huh.

Baker: *puts in less chocolate in the cookies*
People: THERE'S TOO LITTLE CHOCOLATE!!
Baker: *puts in a lot of chocolate but with fewer chocolate chips*
People: THERE'S TOO MUCH CHOCOLATE AND TOO LITTLE CHIPS!!!!
Baker: *adds more chips in the future batch*
People: WHY ARE YOU ADDING CHIPS? IT'S TOO LATE AND A MESS!!!!

First, we will update the experience of Chapter 13’s gameplay. For that reason, we are undertaking many enhancements such as increasing the power of the ring’s magic. We will inform you of the details of updated content at a later time

How can this make a better experience?
So now you'll be able to cast death against the robots?

I'm having a blast with the game, but I NEVER play an RPG 2 times, so I will wait until is updated, meanwhile I'll play the rest of my backlog

I don't regret the purchase though, I'm glad to have the deluxe edition, but for some reason the DLC is erased from my game

this game is a real shame, releasing an incomplete mess to please stockholder and shit and try to fix it over the next year, it's a joke.

Font increase?
Yes please. Why do these damn games always make the text seem like I'm signing a contract.

It's bad that they have to do this.

It's freaking AMAZING, that they are doing it.

Pretty much, mistakes were made but at least they aren't sitting on it.

Better than having it stay like that post release.

I agree, it feels even worse than Xenoblade X's at the moment.

But what if it shipped less then that?
Then they'll follow the original plan with short term updates and focus on pushing out DLCs instead?

Imo features like new game+ and cap were already part of the original plan since they were discussed prerelease while the possible avatar system and more playable teammates being the additional one after receiving players feedback

Wait until they release a half assed patch with some of these story changes and then they go "Yeah, sorry, we released this unfinished patch and if the game sells X units we'll really finish the story this time, promise"

I'm SO glad I decided not to buy this until the price drops fantastically.

Naw, the original statement was they are now expanding the patches and updates due to the 5m shipment

He didn't mention what the original update plan was though

Sounds like stretch goals on a kickstarter. "Well since we made so much money we can now make so and so possible"! So completely backwards.

You are missing the trifecta of whining.

Its almost like these people that complain about these 3 things are different people. I was fine with FFXV being delayed until it was finished. Funny that the game seems to have released under cooked anyways. Also I'm happy if the game gets fixed it just sucks that it needs to be fixed in the first place.

I don't really see the problem? No please don't make the game better! Lol what?
Yeah.
But it did cement the idea that you should wait at least 6 months before buying a new game.
I stopped preordering games, i stopped buying on d1, but clearly it's not enough time.

Gotta stay on a 6 months offset.

It's not "an issue getting fixed".

They left holes in the game so they could get it out for release and now they're filling them after people already paid for the game and maybe even finished it.

There is no fixing it. That would take an absurdly large amount of time and money. The only thing they can do is akin to add a new coat of paint to a crumbling wall.

I'm ok with it though, better than nothing

No one is complaining it's getting fixed.

People are complaining it was released in such a state in the first place.

It clearly needed more time to bake but they shoved it out anyway. It's not the first game that it's happened to with a similar reaction.

Never implied those are all the same people. Just saying there will be complaints no matter what.

The replay values of FFs are already high. The people who already beat the game are most likely gonna play it again. Why not have added content that addresses certain issues and enhances the story experience?

Chapter 9+ To end spoilers
can they just patch it so Luna doesn't die and joins your party so there can be a proper romance? The end is already tragic enough, don't need Luna dying too. Plus, ff7r coming soon, so that's two main love interests dead

man.

I am glad I didnt buy the game at full price.

Now I dont even know if I should buy it this christmas :P

At least they are fixing it and not leaving it the way it is now lol

What for the people who wanted a good story the first time they're playing the game, like for every other damn game in the whole industry ?

Why is FFXV getting an excuse ?

Cool, hopefully the new scenes will be there by the time I reach that point on NG+, or a low level run. This game's cutscenes are pretty good, there's just not enough of them, so I'll take it.

Don't have an issue with the storytelling so far (granted I'm only on Chapter 3, 28 hours playtime), but seems like it gets worse in the later chapters.

Some of the criticism it gets for not explaining some things, at least early on, is definitely overblown. I've seen "why is there an Oracle, anyway? Why can she commune with the gods?", "no one reacts to the situation of the world or the major events that just took place" and stuff like that, but I completely disagree that it's not mentioned. Even that stupid catching frogs fetch quest is perfectly explained.

Well, at least from Sania's perspective, there's no explanation for the prince to be the one catching them other than "because he's the playable character". Sure, he has an interest in finding out more about the mutations too, I guess, but any hunter could do it.

Except the ones that died to Garulas, these hunters can't do shit.

They're not remaking the whole story, they're just adding a few scenes. The story will still be just as dumb as it's always been.

I was gonna ask for some stats that back this up but it doesn't really matter.

Nobody is saying they should not do this. People are complaining that Square-Enix released an unfinished game.

As usual, the best way to play a game is to play it one year later (unless it is a competition / progression based multiplayer game).

Writer:"Damn, need more time to finish the book"

Publisher:"Who cares, give me what you have and I'll sell it"

Book store employer:"Here's the new book you were waiting for!"

Customer:"Nice! I was waiting for this, 10 years"

*reads book*

Customer:"You know, is not a bad book, but feels likr is missing pages and chunks of it"

Writer:"You are right, here are the missing pages"

Customer:"But...I already read the book, it would have been nice, having the full book when I bought it and experienced it.."

*Writer fan crawls in the ground and approaches furiosly*

Writer fan:"Why are you complaining!! He's giving you the missing pages for free. Why can you feel the passion and the love he put in his work! ArghaRRGhhh!"

Customer:"But past books didn't have missing pages, and certainly most other books didn't"

Writer fan:"But you are getting them, you're so entitled!! Who cares if you already read the book. FEEL THE PASSION OF HIS WORK!! ArrrhhgaRRRGhhhh"

I think there's more to it honestly. Here we are witnessing the transformation already happening all over of games as services. They re trying to keep players engaged for long on these games hoping they buy more digital stuff etc. And keeping fans happy for longer. Infact if you read it all they re planning to add new hunts and even timed events from time to time. I can't say is bad but I want to experience it first before getting mad or enthusiast. Witcher 3 did also similar stuff but they re taking a bit further forward here with the time events and such. Almost like an mmorpg or moba of sort.
This was inevitable btw.
