Are you fucking serious
Stop playing right now people
Do not get up to that chapter until the patch hits
I repeat
DO NOT PLAY THE WORST CHAPTER IN FF HISTORY UNTIL IT'S FIXED
I doubt it's gonna be absolutely pivotal material. Will it add more flavor to the secondary and tertiary characters? Yes. But is the story fine without it? Yes (debatable by some I guess).
I suppose I can understand why people would be slightly annoyed by it....but saying "omg mess disaster apocalypse 0/10 worst game ever" is a little ridiculous. Be happy they are still working on making the game better after people have already paid for the game. They can easily just leave it in the state it is in now and no one would even say anything.
Also, it's not like facts in the timeline of the game are going to change all of a sudden. If it does I'll be the first to say "wtf? really?" but to me this is just an update to add more back story to guys like Ravus, and maybe a few others that were part of the empire.
This.
So basically the game is still not done, and they are going to finish it over the next few months. Weird.
Do you really believe that though? They've sunk so much time and money into this game. The last thing they need is word of mouth making their sales drop off. Especially when they have dlc to sell. Its a mainline Final Fantasy game. One of gaming's most recognized brands. They're going to do everything they can to move units.
Another beta sold full price, how fun

I feel like I say it every two days, buy Gaf's hyperbole knows no bounds. It's hilarious. It's hyperbole imo. It's still a wonderful game despite the flaws.
Yes I do. The majority of people like the game, the backlash on gaf is very much a vocal minority (much like many AAA games that disappoint).
Word of mouth is going to be much more positive than negative imo.

They're saying parts of the story don't make sense so they're fleshing em out so they do, at least that's what's I'm gathering. I'm on chapter 5 myself so I don't know just how disjointed it gets.
The game is definitely not finished, but it sounds like they might only be trying to patch the holes with new cutscenes and exposition rather than fixing it fully. The fact they think tweaking the strength of your weapon in Chapter 13 is the fix that chapter needs kinda suggests they aren't considering any major overhauls.
There's literally years of work left on this title if they want the whole story and gameplay setup to be as fun as the first 5 chapters are. The game is one third finished and arguably the best FF, two thirds rushed and arguably the worst FF.

Most people don't, but this isn't 1999 anymore. They're not adding a whole game of content, changes here and there. YouTube comes in handy for something like this. Why is there so much positive reactions here ?
Why is it so much difficult to understand that people who saw all those problems are absolutly digusted to see that other will be able to experience it better but not them which DID bought the game on launch, puting their trust on Square Enix ?
Do you think everyone have 40 hours to put on a game all over again because "hey, maybe this time the game will be more fleshed out" ? Time is precious, i hate doing this and i will never forget this stuff from Square Enix. For me it's just a scandal and i don't get why it's not the same for so much people.
I will have FFXV by Cristmas but from now on, all their game will be bought way after their release. Including KH 3 and of course the remake of FFVII, that's like, the LEAST i can react. I feel like i can only have trust in Nintendo for buying stuff early... and Indie games.... And i hope Atlus.

Great*FFXV is a good game. Quite flawed but still good overall.
As to the nature of this patch, it is of course messed up they sold the game missing so much core story and ironing out of chapter 13 (no idea why this chapter is supposed to be so bad, but I've heard non-stop complaints so it must be) and playable characters.
But yeah, I'm not going to criticize the fact they are intending to fix the issue with free updates. That is the right thing to do, and in the end those who own the game might ultimately have the gane they imagined. It is my same thought as No Man's Sky. No, the time has not passed. It is never too late to right a wrong and give people the product desired or promised.
Good for SquareEnix communucating this fact, good on them committing to it. But they should have been honest about the unfinished product they were releasing prior to launch. Nonetheless, this is now the right thing to do.

Completely possible for those that work fulltime jobs, have significant others, and other games they're trying to play. Not sure what your point is.
Will it cost anything?
While you're right, no company that wants to remain a company is going to announce that the game so many have been looking forward to, and has taken so long is coming out in an unfinished state. Game sales are front loaded. They know that would have been a curse never lifted.
I feel like it missed the mark on the fucking basics
Combat is just terribly infuriating for me right now
I feel like im playing a mashup of western games mixed with FF and Japanese elements.
First, change the control type to C or even B, just don't use AI feel like it missed the mark on the fucking basics

People who say shit like "this is a free update, be thankful they are doing this ^_^" blow my mind
Yeah, they should've just left it as if and pull a MGSV. "It's good enough, fuck it".People who say shit like "this is a free update, be thankful they are doing this ^_^" blow my mind
Agreed. That won't make everyone happy, but t would help. I'm still relatively early in the game, so I'm personally happy about this. Early story wise...15 hours or so game wise.I agree in the sense that I comprehend why they did not communicate that fact, particularly given the games history. That said, sometimes difficult choices must be made. In the perfect world, they would have delayed the product again or told gamers the product was not in a completed state upon release.
However we are not in a perfect world and they made the decision that best helped their bottom line in the short term. I think that was a mistake, but I understand their thought process here.
Still ultimately they do have a responsibility to fix this mistake. And they seem to be doing so. Im not sure how much their DLC will cost, but they should probably offer episode Prompto for free or something if it isnt already. For ammends.
Why though?

Hopefully by the time the PC version is ready the game will be out of Early Access.
