So they're stripping the Confeds cup but letting the WC go on? Where's the logic in that. If all the big leagues in Europe threaten to boycott FIFA, can they really do anything? I think just PL + La Liga would be enough tbh

Isn't the world cup in Qatar going to be moved to the Winter months? Sounds interesting to see something different honestly, plus more fans might be able to afford attending since airfare is cheaper than in the summer.

I don't care much about sports you see (except when it's fun to see fans cry).
 
Well they can't interrupt 2 league seasons in a row. Their rhetoric now is "we're only messing up 1 season and you have 7 years to prepare"
 
Europe should stand strong and not let their leagues take a break. Put in the contracts before that season starts, you go the world cup, you don't get paid for your time away.

They might be able to convince the European leagues to reschedule everything for the World Cup, but no way are teams in those leagues going to miss out on crucial players or reschedule all the games for something like the Confederations Cup.
 
Interesting subject.

How many thousands of people have to die for this ridiculous spectacle? I say the next cup should happen floating on the Panama Canal, so we can celebrate the dead there too.

The issue isn't so much about the practicalities of playing in summer, it's about the corruption and criminality surrounding the Qatar bid along with the almost slave like conditions for the workers involved in building the multiple stadia for the games.
 
The current idea is that the 2021 Confed Cup would be played in an undetermined county in Asia.

Just want to remind Joseph that the US stands ready to host the Confed Cup at a moment's notice. Or you know the real thing.

They are (in their mind). The people dying and building these stadiums aren't from the middle east. They're from the Philippines, Nepal, India and other countries.

If you're not from Qatar (or Muslim), they don't give two god damn shits about you, especially once they have your passport. The Qatari govt could end this issue two quick, but they won't, since it's cheap, exploitabl labor.

I've been to Qatar twice on deployments and I've seen how they treat non-citizens, it's disgusting.
