Don't care for the rubber look, but it really isn't bad at all. The grass looks nice and everything seems to be fairly detailed. If it animates well, it could be a nice first effort on their part.

Regardless of players models not looking too good and lightning being wrong/overdone etc, the video is *very* impressive from a technical only standpoint.
So impressive in fact, i'd say it's CG, but the framerate constantly changing during the video should suggest otherwise.

It looks like the prerendered movies they have had in their past FIFA titles. Very impressive technically as has been pointed out, but it also looks so damn weird and unnatural. I am both impressed and underwhelmed at the same time. Not a game I would show off the Xbox 360.

hint: look at the wall jumping (concentrate on the part of the jersey that is tucked into shorts)...

well, i'm not interested in fifa's at all, so i'd be happy knowing this is what the actual game looks like. It's a vulgar display of brute force, but it does display a lot of this "force" : ) especially considering this comes from Ea.
It may still suck, but bodes well for visuals on X360 : )

i'm usually fairly easy on this sort of stuff but

wtf? when was the last time you saw a football game on grass that long? Oh, that's right - down the park... and that's about it.

the pictures looked mocked - and they STILL look like utter garbage.

the video looks like CG... BAD CG. I don't think it's real ,which is somewhat of a worry.
If you can't nail a next gen look in CG, that doesn't bode too well for the game.
(I'm not using CG to question the quality, it's just everything looks canned, non ingame , and (frankly) arsebiscuits)

EA have good artists.. i'm just guessing they are all on holiday.... for a year...or two...

maybe you can use a stealth approach in Fifa 06. I dunno, maybe you can have your players creep along the ground, hidden in tall grass and jump out suddenly to steal the ball.

Maybe they used cryengine. Nah, in fact, not even far cry has a such faithful representation of wild vegetation.

Edit: in fact someone needs to photoshop one of these pics with Snake/big boss crawling in the grass in his camo suit

Call me crazy but that trailer looked pretty good imo. The players look a little...different but the lighting and animation are spot on. Of course any trailer that features a Doves song is alright in my book.

Yeah the trailer looks great. But after seeing NBA 2k6 cloths animation Fifa looks bit strange. But other than that it looks really nice in motion.
