Fight Night 360 sucks online

been dropped three times out of 9 matches
wtf either its EA crappy servers or something
I have perfect cable connection, never drop in CoD2 or PDZ but now Im dropping all the time.
Worst part - you get a loss for a drop. My friend got a loss because his system froze in 1st round after 1 punch was thrown.

The game itself is amazing though. When online works, its so fun.

Ruh roh.

Where is DM to damage control? :D

EA servers suck balls. I'm lucky if I can connect to my Madden game online.

hahaha, your internet connection must really suck for that to happen.

Crappy online play with an EA sports game? The hell you say! :D Sarcasm aside, I expected this. The Gamespot review will probaly have the following The Bad line: "Online is a ton of fun...when it works."

I haven't popped the game in my system yet, so I can't comment, but if this were the case, who would be surprised? EA consistently has had an awful track record of online issues, particularly with the Fight Night series.

I hope your experiences are isolated, because I'm looking forward to playing this online.

This may or may not be the issue, but I'm wondering if this is similar to the Ridge Racer 6 issue.

Try disconnecting from your Computer (go into the 360 settings, disconnect from your computer - NOT the media center PC option). I had insane problems with RR6 and this solved the issue immediately. Of course you have no streaming music and will be forced to listen to shitty EA tracks, but meh - it's a sacrifice.

I think there must be a lot of traffic/bandwidth being wasted by having that persistant connection always up.

Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!!!

I've been having hellish issues with RR6 online since setting up streaming music, thought my router was fucked or ISP had gone to shit, but this was it, you sir, are a fucking Hero. :)

Seems like the first couple days of every game have issues online. Not damage control, but the truth.

What's unfortunate is that often these issues are never addressed. As far as I remember, there were issues with Fight Night Round 2 online that plagued the game for it's lifespan.

True, but for me anyway, every game was pretty much unplayable online the first couple of days after release. Just too many people jumping on at the same time. Usually after that, the games are playable. Can't really speak on FN Round 2 as I never played it online.

I have never successfully played an EA title online.

I think the most I've ever gotten was a game or two of Burnout before it dropped me.

This all comes as no surprise.

Are you sure your opponent isn't just dropping on you :D

Speaking of which, some bastard gave me bad rep because I "drop games." Sorry that I didn't want to sit through five minutes of laggy-as-shit Marble Blast in the middle of the night, you scuzzy fuckers.

Anyway, I don't think even bad online will stop me from grabbing this game, since I loved the demo so much (first time I played a boxing game since Evander Holyfield boxing on the Genesis)

I haven't had any problems online yet. Ive actually had 3 people quit on me and they're all unpreferred players now.

Ill be looking for some GAF members to be out there.

EA's online servers are always terrible barring Madden, but even it sucked on the 360...

100% fine for NCAA baseball.

I played seven or eight matches with no problem. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't save your Custom Match choices, so I have to keep switching back to "Only At My Skill Level" and "Ranked" every time.

And I fought one guy who kept hitting pause accidentally. Didn't kick me out or end the match. Just froze it until he hit pause again. It's one of the smoother online experiences I've had on the 36, actually.

just fought 4 times with zero lag! this game is the best thing since sliced bread! and we all know how it was before sliced bread.

Only EA game I've had a serious problem with is Burnout Revenge on Xbox.

If you can't connect to Madden it's just because too many people are on, not really a server problem. It's the games first day of release and is a huge title, I'd give it a few more days before I passed judgement.

So is there a way to only fight people who use the stick to punch?

Yeah, I would like to know this too please. :)

Can you set the host settings so that the player that joins can only use the Stick\Stick & Buttons\Buttons. Played the demo in 2 player, and playing it with just the buttons seems much easier, and overall less fun. Also, it would be unfair on the player just using the stick if you could just abandon that control method and start hitting 2 buttons at once for uppercuts instead of timing your punches.

Oh, and can you have spectators on this online? :D How many?

Thats it..im out of questions...

:D

You could have left out "online" and your thread topic would still be true.

There are "Analog Only" rooms in "Lobby" and you can just pick someone's tag and send them a fight invite. I did that a few times.

No spectators, though. A bit of a drag, especially if you're fighting against someone who can't/won't talk to you. Finally got my first online win, though. A grueling 6 round bout, but I knocked him out. The way it gauges your skill level in terms of matchmaking is pretty well done. When I use that as a "Custom Match" setting, I always end up in a fair, fun fight.

This game is really just too smooth.

AFAIK that was part was part of the contract. EA wanted to run their own servers.

Fools! I bought FIFA 2006 (admittedly PC) specifically to play online, only to find that I can't because their servers are so crappy.

EA servers? I thought Microsoft hosted the servers for Xbox live games?
EA has their own servers for matchmaking and stats hosting, but Fight Night, like all EA SPORTS titles, is PEER TO PEER connection. Once you enter a session with another user, you have established a peer connection. There could be a lot of things that could end a peer connection, from plug pulling, to packet loss, to desyncs, all of which could be blamed on a host of things between your Xbox and your opponent's Xbox.

There may be a problem with FN's net code, but more than likely a few people have had drops for some local reason, and then extrapolate out to "EA servers" are the culprit. To blame "EA servers" is to show that you don't really understand the underlying technology for online games.
