Fighting Games Weekly | August 27 - September 2

Great set. Haitani is probably my favourite overall fighting game player, but there's no doubt V-Ryu is the best Makoto around, and has been since Super dropped tbh. In terms of knowledge of the character and knowledge of every matchup he's on another level. It's a real shame alot of Europe's best never make it out to Evo.

They're both super-good but simply knowing things doesn't make you the best. Haitani's like 100x more established as VRyu as far as tournament performance goes. Not to say that VRyu couldn't potentially be up there if he was able to live and compete in Japan on the regular, but that's just how judging the "best" in these games goes.

If you want to say VRyu's the best at coming up with new tech, then yeah, can't argue with that.

Apparently the Marvel tournament isn't starting yet because they're running late. I am probably gonna be there a while. Thank God for the nearby 7-11.

EDIT: omg this orange fanta slurpee is AMAZING.

Someone should do a fighting game speedrun. Arcade mode or something of a fighter.

I don't think I have the patience to do a speedrun. At least with oldschool games. All these oldschool games are hard to beat let alone finish them near perfectly. Those speedrunners are totally hardcore.

I once bet someone I would beat super Mario bros in 7 mins no death.

I died at the damn axe thrower just before the final boss with plenty of time to spare. The room was omega hype because I had supporters and people against me side betting. People tried to psyche me out and made some fast jumps tighter than they should be.

I have won easier bets though. Someone claimed that DMC1 could not be beaten started from scratch, I already knew it was easily possible and won ez money.

Bets make anything hype.

On what difficulty would you all consider to do a speedrun?

I OD'd with the "no doubt" etc, it was a hype tourney, lol.

I think it's a better idea to watch somebody fail at a speedrun, along with a webcam to show player's reaction.

Back from the tourney, legs sore from running and nearly missing the last BART home. As enzo said earlier, I lost to kbeast, but I took a game off him with TEAM ARMOR at least. Nearly made it to semis but lost to upback Taskmaster. Either way I would've quit afterwards since I had to go home. It was tons of fun and I can't wait until the next one.

Also, Haunts says that NeoGAF is a buncha *BANNED F-WORDS*. <3

I'm kinda curious how Bon-chan is going to deal with Haitani, but I didn't pay so I'll just have to rely on seeing the scores and hopefully Tokido's blog. :(

At this point, Eita is confirmed to drop from A League, so he won't be in the offline play matches. The outcome of Kyabetsu's and Mago's last matches will determine the other player. Not looking good for Mago right now though.

that was fucking sick fuudo, momo with a big enough life lead with 6 secs to go, command throw, c.mk x super for the timeout win just.

edit - omg fuudo does it again.

Whoa at that super into ultra whiff with guile... IIRC it only works if it's after a flash kick xx super, or am I wrong?

EDIT: Vryu is amazing! downloaded that chun in one round... and dat far s.HK!

EDIT 2: :( Cuongster

EDIT 3: France vs Rest of Europe going on now!
