KOF Maximum Impact 2 was the most fun I've had with a KOF game since KOF 11. KOF 13 doesn't even come close, same for 2002.

I am hoping that since the current SF roster is so diverse and interesting, and ComboFiend has said they want something for everyone, that we will get 10 more characters that feel really fresh unlike the Zzz Zzz SFIV roster.

No, I meant FGC gatherings. Most recently they hosted The Fight Before Christmas in December. They've done LANs for LoL, Dota2, and Hearthstone in the past too.
