Fighting Games Weekly | Nov 17-23 | Settle it in Smash

Statistically incorrect because of "New anime game? GOAT."

That's not true, I called CSE ass from the start just about and I never liked Persona and if you been paying attention I haven't said the same about GGXrd.

Best games right now imo are UNIEL and BBCP

Xrd is in third to me in the anime category. But I'm still super hype for it because it's the series I first took seriously :P

Somehow the online feels worse sometimes.
Maybe cause it's been a couple months since I played on 3DS, but ugh.

Just gonna unlock the characters and let this sit around for when people come over.

And I bought the bundle too.
I have serious problems I need to resolve.

did you guys talk about m2k going back to emp? after all his talk about only staying in emp because of armada and how trifoce owes him all this money he went back to emp. -_-

Yeah, as someone on reddit said: Both greedy AND stupid. No sympathy left in me for this stuff.

In other news, messed around with ST Claw a bit. So smooth <3_<3 That walkspeed is godlike.

Also UNIB heads: How do you get the j.C to hit in Gord's buttons, qcf+A, qcf+A, 2C, j.C, stuff combo? Can't figure it out for some reason.

Anyone have any coupon codes for the MadCatz store? Gonna be buying a messenger bag and I love the MadCatz Messenger Bag. At £30 it's pretty good already but if anyone has a coupon code, it'd be appreciated. :)

Really guys? That picture is from over a month ago.

True. Mostly due to FGC's self-destructive attitude.

I'm sure that massive in-game economies and top-tier dev support aren't factors at all when it comes to LoL, DoTA, etc.

NEC Schedule is out
http://bigegaming.com/nec15schedule/

Anime is getting some love on the main stream on finals day.

NEC is one of the biggest anime tournaments in the country. This is expected.

Marlinpie coming to an Osaka marvel tournament I'm going to on the 29th- I am hype! Hopefully I can get some casuals in against him.

Japan Marvel? Something about that tickles me right. Will there be a stream?

Walkspeed and can poke from 1/3 - 1/2 screen? Yes please
he's my main in the one game I play with any consistency
!

I'm a sucker for mobility and strong/long (esp. long) buttons and just raw power. Claw is a pretty instant sell. Now if only he wasn't a charge character :/

Are you just getting into ST now?

For some reason, Claw doesn't bug me as a charge character in ST (charge characters in ST don't bother me in general) although in other games (SF4) they do. Can't put my finger on why though.

I thought charge times would be the explanation - SF4 generally has longer charge times - up to 55f in contrast to eg. 3S 45f, KOF13 30f - but all of SF4 Claw's moves apart from the roll (50f) have a short 42f charge time.

So shooting blanks.

I think "starting ST" is too strong a statement - most of my time will go to KOF, UNIEL, Xrd. But I'm definitely interested in trying ST out. It's a pretty low maintenance game compared to many modern ones, isn't it? Especially if you tierwhore/specialize to escape from the counterpick circus.

More UNIB questions:

How do grabs/command grabs work? How does the juggle system work. Is infinite protection via damage proration and/or hitsun decay? How about air teching?
Is there a comprehensive breakdown of the game system somewhere in English, because mizuumi wiki is woefully inadequate.

That's why I didn't bother

Smash netcode really is fantastic. I have over 1000 matches now, and a lot of them feel like offline play. If I play against GAF members, the chances of the matches having unnoticeable levels of lag goes up astronomically. Wire up, check your router, and enjoy. On the Wii U version, a lot of folks are saying 4-player Smash is even very low on the lag.

My gut feelings are typically right though regardless :P
I think your brain is good at recognizing cheap stuff, so you see a character with cheap stuff and say "top tier". You tend to be correct, because cheap stuff often leads to a character being top tier, but you don't really consider the other, cheaper stuff in the game, which leads to you being wrong sometimes. IIRC, you thought Poison was top tier primarily because of how good her zoning game is, but it seems (based off of the 2-3 matches I've seen with her - glad to be corrected on this) that her mix-up game is the bigger aspect of what makes her top tier.

What do you think?

Also, I think you undervalue Charizard's down B during play. ;-)

Grabs are similar to how grabs in BB work (although they are faster, in balance). If you grab someone while in hitstun or block stun, you get a gold throw and they have twice as long to break the throw. This game does have throw protection on wakeup, so if you try to meaty throw someone it'll just whiff.

Infinite protection is done by hitstun scaling, and is generally extremely harsh now (thanks to UNIB 1.0). Most characters need to pay at least some attention to what their combos start with, as available routes can change based on the hitstun proration. That's something you'll figure out through experimentation and experience.

You can airtech neutral or backwards, but backwards costs 1 GRD (but you can do it if you're at 0 GRD). It's like air techs in any other anime fighter, with one huge exception: you can't attack or be hit until you touch the ground.

There's a subtitled beginner's walk through in the UNIEL OT that's really good if you are looking to learn more about the system mechanics. I would link to it, but I'm on mobile right now.

There's this one smash stream where the player cams have higher frame rates than the gameplay by like a margin of 2 and they haven't done anything about for months.

I fucking love BBCP it's my favorite game right now, but it's also the most taxing game to play mentally and stressfully to me. If you think I have the energy for that shit right now you are very very wrong.

It's awesome of you to do it though :P

I try to look at every character in comparison, but for the most part it's the potential characters that get looked over that I tend to bring up. I typically try to play out matches in my head and think of different situations and other stuff, back when I was playing #reload for 8 hours a day I used to actually be able to play full matches in my head and visualize them to the point where I could make mistakes and lose to stuff still. Made for akward car trips as I would zone out while everyone else would be talking haha.

I can sorta do the same for players and predict who will win pretty accurately and I can call out by the middle of the 2nd round what the losing player needs to do typically to turn the tides.

As for Poison I mained her in SFxT so I knew her toolset :P It wasn't just about the zoning.

As for Charizard I use his Down B quite a bit more often these days, we haven't played in forever xD

Yeah, 3DS version. I pick up the Wii U version after work tonight, and then I have a full week off of work to play. I expect to get up to 500 at least!

Win rate in For Glory is 75% right now.

500 in a week!

For comparison, I have about 300-500 versus games in Gundam EXVS Full Boost across all the months from release back in the winter through the start of the fall, and it's the fighting game that received almost all my time in 2014.

I am going to stop being so hard on myself for being so much worse than everyone else in every fighting game, lol.

You can tech command throws that are used in the middle of a combo. You can also tech Waldstein's B command throws as it has a much longer reach than the Average version, super can't be teched. I think.

Basically if you fuck up a tick throw set up and they are still in block stun they can tech. At least that's what happens with Gordeau's grab.

Guys what Twitch channel is 37 Reloaded being streamed on today?
