Fighting over dolls

The only 'doll' I'd fight over.

... and I'd loosen up her buttons.

Labubu fan Victoria Calvert said she witnessed chaos in the Stratford store in London. "It was just getting ridiculous to be in that situation where people were fighting and shouting and you felt scared."

The soft toys became a TikTok trend after being worn by celebrities like Rihanna and Dua Lipa.

Since gaining celebrity status they've gone viral as a fashion accessory.

Fans on social media were not happy at the decision to pull the dolls.

"It's your fault for drip feeding stock to us that's caused this hype," one commented on Pop Mart's Instagram post.

Others vented their anger at resellers.

"Buyers are re-selling them for £100 for one Labubu, which is unacceptable. How come they get to buy and other people can't?!" one said.

"Sooo upset that resellers ruin everything," replied another.

John Connor, "we're not gonna make it, are we? Humans, I mean." Dot Gif.

I've always been a fan of what pop mart produces, and their stocks has been surging. Honestly its what I wanted designer toys to be back in the 2000's, its quality stuff. Just wish I got in early when it was so obvious.

wait, is this like a blind/loot box thing? you don't know which doll you'll get until you open it?

Yup, that's part of the strategy so people have to buy multiple ones to get the entire collection.
Not to mention you can have rare ones with high resell prices which further incentivases scalping.

It's basically gambling with extra steps.

Really old person checking in here.

What are these, are they fashion accessories? One of the pictures has a purse with two of these attached to it...I know how much that purse costs (ugh...summer color my ass) but I don't get these dolls.
Also not from the UK so I have no exposure to Pop Mart (assuming its a UK thing).

(I fully realize the hypocrisy of complaining about the cost of a purse when I look at the cost of well...ANYTHING pc/console related these days...but DAMN she doesn't even use the ones she HAS)

Be carnage in the stores when it's life sized Tifa sex dolls.

No hassle, no queues, no uncomfortable long-stares from people.

Except the one in the mirror each morning.

Am I supposed to be shocked? I still remember being 7 years old in 1984 and my mom and I watched grown ass adults get into an all out brawl because they were trying to get the handful of Optimus Primes the store got in stock.

Popular consumerism makes people stupid.
