Figuring out 360 #s per store @ launch

Liquid

Banned
all info taken from each respective companies corporate site

eb/gamestop=3500 stores around the US
Best Buy=830 stores
walmart=???
target=1400 stores
kmart/sears=3900 stores
toys r us=???
circuit city=600

total so far=10230

average 20 per store=204600 units.
average 50 per srore=511500 units.

someone get wally world and TRUs numbers and info on the expected 1st shipment for the US numbers. If its around 500,000 units things may be looking pretty good for those who havent pre-ordered. God knows the locations for these stores that are in the middle of nowhere arent getting anywhere close to 20-50 units at launch. Even figuring in smaller lesser known chains shouldnt change the numbers by much.

Just curious where you got the average numbers from. Around here all the gaming stores are getting at least 300 units per store.

300? That seems really high to me...

Anyway, what about places like Sam's Club and Costco? They seem to always get a pretty large number of systems per store. I have a Costco opening up a block from my home on Nov. 22nd. I'm expecting a few 360s to be there that day.

According to this article, Target has notified their stores that they can expect avg. stores to receive between 25-50 consoles, but some may get as low as only 10. Don't know how the numbers break down Premium/Core wise, unfortunatly.

“Every store will print up tickets representing the number of 360’s and core systems they have in stock. They are also supposed to print a large sign informing customers that the store has sold out and keep it on hand.”

Sooooooooooo lame. I know MS wants to use the sold out hype technique, but it's retarded that they are telling stores to display sold out signs.

i just did 20 to start based on rumors but that doesnt add up to many consoles if the first shipment could be around 500,000 consoles. upped it to 50 per store and that makes more sense numbers wise.

You sure that isn't a Target policy?

I was hearing the EB and Gamestop will have to do it as well (including a 2 game tie-in number) to guarantee subsequent shipments quickly.

They said the same system would be used for the psp launch, but it wasn't implemented at either of the two local targets 'round here. I think it's up to the store.

Preorders != Amount of units in first shipment.

Like stated in another thread, one shop has 150 preorders (in a major metro area) and is only getting 30 units.

I love how shortage rumors kind of feed upon themselves. First shipment, second shipment, all that... it makes me wonder a bit how things actually went down with previous system launches. With Xbox / GC / DS / PSP, did anyone who was told they'd be in the second or third shipment actually have to wait that long?

And did anyone who showed up on the morning of launch at a retailer before they opened go home without a system? (Not counting PS2...that was a different situation.)

I've been buying systems without preorders for years and I've never not been able to get one on launch morning, even with PS2.

location should play a huge role too. someplace in bumfuck iowa isn't getting 50 units. thats should free up alot of the average for more metro stores.

Why? Seems like a good way to create hype imo.

Oh God, Sam's Club please be my savior!

I won't have to worry about people camping out there, because from 7-10AM, it's Business Members only hours, and since I have a business membership, I'll be able to get one! HAHAHAHAHA OMG WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS BEFORE? Of course, this is assuming that Sam's Club has them on the 22nd, and if they will stock the Premium Pack. They have a nasty habit of only stocking the cheaper version of things, like whenever there's a single disc DVD and a 2-disc SE, they'll only have the single disc version.

Someone who works at GameRush indicated on another board that the chain would be getting around 3,700 units at launch. Divided between 450 stores, that's around 8 each. That's less than the 10 pre-orders that each store was allowed to take. No word on premium/core allocation.

I'm hearing that Sam's Club/Costco won't be getting shipments until a few days after launch. Just hearsay of course, but right now I'm not counting Costco into my launch plans. Target and ToysRUs hopefully will bail me out on the 22nd :(

I know. I'm just going by what I was told in said stores. Day one they expected 150 tard packs and 150 HD packs. Not preorders, they have far more of those. Certainly their numbers could have changed since I've spoken to them, or they are dirty dirty liars. Either way, it's the only thing I have to go by.

The people you are talking to sir....are asshats.

My Target is getting 20 X360s. According to the LOD, if a single unit is sold before the 22nd, MS is gonna stop sending X360 to all Targets nation wide this holiday.

Walmart ftw!

If Best Buy is getting that many. Walmart will get that many and more.

Although I don't know if I buy the 300 number because of how it is split up. Moore said the shipments would skew 80/20 or higher in favor of the Premium pack. Perhaps things have changed again.

Depending on your area, you may want to go early. However I really don't expect the 360 to sell out at all on the first day except for game stores. Remember the release date is a Tuesday. Most kids still have school and many people have to get up for work early in the morning.

best buy isnt specialty store. gotta make room for the casuals. i think the 80/20 was for places like gamestop and eb.

If they are plentiful at Best Buy and Walmart, I'll be buying extras for eBay (my system to play is locked in). If the money isn't there on eBay, I'll just return them for full credit.

Well, that's usually just to cut down on the number of people coming in and bitching.

frankly more people buy stuff from Bestbuy and TRU than Gamestop.

yet, gs/eb is the 2nd largest seller of games in the US. you'd think they'd get more.

especially as tru is a quickly sinking ship.
