300: Rise of an Empire (August 2)
The film centers on Themistocles and Artemisia I of Caria, as well as Xerxes I of Persia. It originally went under the working title of Battle of Artemisium (widely mis-reported as "Battle of Artemisia"). The Battle of Artemisium was a naval engagement, concurrent with the battle at Thermopylae, and was fought between an alliance of Greek city-states and the Persian Empire in September 480 BC, in the straits between the mainland and Thermopylae. The film will probably also focus, in part, on the Battle of Salamis, in which Artemisia played a major role, as well as possibly the Battle of Marathon. Salamis was fought once the Persian Empire had advanced into southern Greece and occupied Athens. The film will cover some of the backstory of Xerxes, and will explain how he became "the God King"

That does not stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky ex-con Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Damn, what a list. Thanks for compiling it. What a year it's gonna be...

Edit- Oh to answer the question in the OP, here's my top 10 ranking of most anticipated:

1) The Hunger Games 2
2) Oblivion
3) The Wolverine
4) Elysium
5) Star Trek 2
6) Pacific Rim
7) Superman
8) Kick-Ass 2
9) GI Joe
10) Carrie (I got a thing for Moretz)

A bunch more look awesome too, it's just gonna be a great year. Maybe only 2-3 of those movies listed I'm not hyped for. Some of them never heard of

Wow, what a year for movies. I can't wait for Star Trek, Iron Man, Man of Steel, The Hobbit, and I'm very cautiously optimistic for Wolverine. Ender's Game is a big surprise. That was my favorite book during my childhood. It looks like it has a pretty good cast, but it seems like a very hard movie to pull off correctly.

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.
Lots of them, but mainly A Good Day to Die Hard because it's on Valentines Day.

Awww, you had me excited with that Gravity trailer link, I thought there was a new trailer. That first one is shit.

I'm astonished how terrible Hansel and Gretel looks.
And having Jack and OZ back to back is also weird.
Two giant CG messes that are only fun with 3d and a slight buzz.

Really, there is Despicable Me 2 on the list but not Frozen.

Basically looking forward to the latter and the two Ghibli films, though I probably won't be able to watch them until 2014.

Remakes, sequels and adaptations. Yay 21st century cinema.

Don't see what is so bad about adaptations.

The movie's finally done.

What are the chances of it being good though? If this thing flops, we won't see a proper Ender's Game movie in a very long time.

This is the proper Ender's Game movie. Whether it flops or not there won't be another Ender's Game movie. So let's just hope it isn't crap.

Edit: Also looking forward to:
Inside Llewyn Davis
Rust and Bone

  2. Star Trek: Into Darkness
  3. The World's End

... and that's about it really. I guess I'm going to see Iron Man 3, Thor, etc. but I don't feel any real excitement to do so.

While this is true in 2013, like it has been for the last decade or so, there are actually still a surprising number of originals in that list. Oblivion, Elysium, Gravity, Pacific Rim, and The World's End all catch my eye as some good examples. Also missing the Schwarzenegger movies The Last Stand and The Tomb.

Pretty excited for all the movies I just mentioned plus Hobbit Part 2, 47 Ronin, Iron Man 3, and Thor 2.

I can't imagine I'll see any of those in theaters. I'll see Wolverine/Iron Man/Thor and probably Die Hard. Nothing I'm hyped for that much.

  • I'm completely surprised at there being a Carrie film.
  • Hansel and Gretel, Jack the Giant Slayer, Oz. G.I. Joe, After Earth, The Lone Ranger and World War Z look shit.
  • The Host and Mortal Instruments are probably going to be more shitty YA movies.
  • I'm tired of Die Hard and The Hangover
  • I'm cautious about Monsters University and Ender's Game.
  • Oblivion, Iron Man 3, Star trek, Man of Steel and Pacific Rim look okay.
  • The Great Gasby and Elysium looks/sounds good.

Lots of stuff that looks interesting for sure yet at the same time I know I'll probably end up seeing 3 of them at most in the theater.

Will still see The Hobbit 2 despite being rather cautious about it.

I'm also still excited for Pacific Rim. Will probably go see Iron Man 3 in the hopes that it will be better than IM2.

Other than that I'm probably gonna wait and see if hype develops as more movies get closer to their release dates.
