Noctis soji!
Now I'm imagining Noctis holding a broom and a dripping sponge.
Noctis soji!
The scenario was completed in 2010.
This is pretty much how I feel. Add to that the fact that I don't like any of Tabata's previous games and don't trust him as a director.
I still want to believe this game will be good and I really want to ike it, but so far the marketing for this has been a mess. I hope they get their shit together sometime next year because it's not looking good.
But let's all be honest with ourselves...if we're all posting in this thread and the game gets good reviews (or even mediocre reviews), we're all playing it.
He should do Final Fantasy Versus XVNomura should do a "Bloodborne" inspired Versus once he's done with FF7r. A spiritual successor to versus. It's the only way to keep people sane.

Thanks. So just overreaction basically?
Source?
I'd rather they just give him XV-2 once he's done with FFVIIr. Given how off the goddamn walls the XIII trilogy went, just let him do whatever he wants with it. I doubt that will happen though.Nomura should do a "Bloodborne" inspired Versus once he's done with FF7r. A spiritual successor to versus. It's the only way to keep people sane.
I tapped out on this game awhile ago but my god, is it wrong to say I was expecting more?
I don't want to sound entitled or whatever the hell the buzzword of the day is.
Oh I'm definitely buying and playing this game, after following it for 9+ years I want to know how good or bad it'll end up being.
But after the last two ATR's I really think SE should have turned Versus into a CG movie ala Advent Children and let Tabata make XV from scratch with his own ideas and team.
He should do Final Fantasy Versus XV![]()
I'm tempering my expectations accordingly and expecting the finished product to wind up somewhere in the upper 60s-low 70s on the Metacritic scale where both Lightning Returns and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD wound up.This game is going to be a mess isn't it.
Do we have the slightest context for what this means? Nojima finished writing a story outline, the entire script was finalized, or what? It's hard to believe the story was set in stone in 2010, when the game was clearly so far from coming together. Game writing happens alongside all the other elements of game development, and it doesn't seem like much was getting done with Versus XIII at all.
Nojima being the writer for Versus XIII has struck me as an illusion for quite some time. My impression is he created the overall mythos, collaborated with Nomura in coming up with the various themes and concepts that would dominate the story, perhaps fleshed out a number of scenes, and otherwise has been mostly focused on other projects. I can't imagine that, as Versus XIII was in development hell, Nojima had a role within the team that would be conducive toward both writing and implementing a video game story. The infrastructure wasn't there.

I'd be down for Stella getting resurrected as the protagonist of her own game.
/daydreaming
And then "Oh, the combat is no longer the fast action system they were going for before."

Wait wait wait! They changed the combat?! I must have missed that part.
The original combat looked like Kingdom Hearts, the one in the demo isn't.
If there footage of the demo? I saw a quick gif but I missed most of it cause I was at work.
Sure. Maybe I'll like it, maybe not but really I just want to get this thing over with so the remnants of Fabula Nova Crystallis are a thing of the series' past.
Agreed. I'll play it but I'm already looking forward to XVIs announcement
Fingers crossed for Ito's return.
Yet they feel the need to change it, why?The scenario was completed in 2010.

Yeah right. We're getting Toriyama again.
It almost has to be, right? The director of 6, 9 and 12 and effectively the creator of Tactics can't just disappear, right???

Tetsuya Nomura also spoke with Dengeki PlayStation regarding his upcoming game. Although the interviews were largely similar, several new, important details have surfaced.
By far the most important thing, is that the games scenario is now completed. Not much was elaborated on, but we can only assume that means the entire script and story have been fleshed out and finalized.
Character designs are also finished.

People would have lost their shitBecause its not Nomura and Nojima's game anymore. Its not Versus.
It hasn't been theirs for a while.
My question is, why try and funnel remnants into a different project when you could have just started a new project from scratch to begin with?

I dug up the original interview from 5 (!) years ago:

Maybe because she might've been added inXV and she wasn't in Versus? That still doesn't excuse them not even having an internal name for her though. Thanks for digging through the archives and dredging up some context for us but... I don't get it. If that's the case how does black haired girl not have a name or defined role yet.
I also want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they were being sheepish about the villain comment as well but given the development history here... Yeah.

Wonder if the script back then encompassed only one game or did it span multiple games, considering the re-reveal 3 years ago had Nomura talk about doing sequels to XV.
A Final Fantasy : Ground Zeroes wouldn't be so bad in my mind. A bunch of good quests, a dungeon, a fun boss, and a nice sized town.
Could someone explain what's happened? I'm kinda lost reading these latest posts.
I'm pretty sure they were considering an episodic structure as well to get the game out faster - and as a result the scope of the game was much much smaller? Obviously that wouldn't translate well to a full fledged main numbered game and maybe we're over estimating what was usable before the switch to 15 and need to expand the games scope and content.

It was never episodic, Nomura always wanted a Final Fantasy action spinoff series.
Originally versus was going to at-least be a series of games (my guess 3)
You already invested time and money into the other stuff. Those assets need to go somewhere or its all a waste.
I am convinced I read an interview with Nomura discussing an episodic structure with more story and content released in future episodes as DLC.
Kagari help!
