Finally bought a Slim PS2...

...and I wish I did a long time ago.

I figured I'd pick one up now to free up some space in my apartment and I'll hold on to my old HD system just in case, but this thing is niiiice.

Also, the DVD playback is about as good as my little Sony S725P DVD player so I'm probably going to be using the PS2 as my primary DVD player and the little Sony as a backup in case anything doesn't play on the PS2.

Oh and:

Slimline PS2 + Remote Control + Official 2.4 Ghz Wireless Controller = Heaven.

You have the Logitech Cordless Action controller right?

Man that thing is so good, the response time on it is better than the DS2.

Hell yea. The thing is amazing. Well worth the price. I may pick up a second. Plus, 50 hours of battery life with vibration is awesome.

Yessssss.......

Oh, and I assume you have it on its circular stand, otherwise you wouldn't be going: mmmmmmm...... :D

Actually it's sitting on top of my DVD player with the reciever hanging over the side, so it works out fine.

That logitech controller is pretty damn nice, I saw one for the first time in Best Buy today and was tempted to buy it then and there just for how awesome it looked. Obviously, I couldn't actually hold it in my hand since it was in packaging, but I suspect if they just lengthened the side prongs a bit it would be absolutely perfect (I can't make any comments on how well the D-pad works though).

Note to Sony: Buy the molds for that controller from Logitech and you have your PS3 controller right there!!

Both the Logitech PS2 and Xbox wireless pads are pretty much the perfect controller designs.

Too bad you won't be able to use that controller with the actual PS3 though, but I'm sure Logitech will come out with a version for the PS3 (and hopefully keep it the same).

:(

I bought it as an investment thinking that it'd work with the PS3. Owned! :(

Indeed it is :) :) :)

I bought a PS2 Slim a few months back and whenever I put blue bottom discs into the system it sounds like something inside is going to explode, like the disc is spinning twice as fast or something. If anyone could give me an explanation as to why that happens, that would be fantastic.

Maybe because blue discs are CD's and the drive speed increases exponentially as a result? Although I could be wrong :P

But a horizontal PSTwo won't sit properly when the wireless receiver is attached. Unless a revision comes along, no Cordless Action for me...

EDIT: I see Mana already touched on that.

Verticle, mang. Go verticle.

I'm not down with the vert, not my style for a top loader. Perhaps if it was a tray or a slot loader...

I got used to it pretty quick, it looks so nice in a vertical orientation too :)

It also takes up next to no space on my desktop, so I can stick it right next to my LCD monitor (w/ TV out). PSTwo rocks.

Why not try placing the PStwo on the edge of your PStwo box? I don't have my PStwo yet, but from what I can gather, it should allow the receiver to be attached, no?

Speaking of slim PS2, Joytech's new 8 inch LCD screen for PStwo is out in the UK:

Someone has to have this already, because I need impressions! Also if isamu is reading this, Joytech might release this here in the states for $149.99.

Not quite.

Everyone needs a wireless controller, not just player one. I have three Logitech Cordless Action Controllers (one black, one white, one EA Sports Special Edition silver) and one old Hori Wireless Anashin 2 (blue). Makes Bomberman Party Edition even more fun.

And that still isn't heaven. Fighting games can be literally painful to play with standard controllers (Saturn and Genesis 6-button excluded). The too loose directional pads on the Logitech controllers make them more frustrating. NubyTech's wireless fighting pads aren't available yet.

But when they are, then we can be in Heaven.

Slimline PS2 + Remote Control + Multitap (or, if necessary, Two Multitaps) + Multiple Official 2.4 GHz Wireless Controllers (if possible, all in different colors to easily tell them apart) + Multiple NubyTech Street Fighter Wireless Controllers (all different characters to, again, easily tell them apart) = Heaven.

Unless you're a hardcore driving and fishing game fan.

Man, I wish I had a slim PS2 instead of original (although the original supports a HDD), the original PS2 looks like a beast compared to the slim.

Awesome controller. Make sure you get this newer version.. it's not as big as the previous one, and doesn't have the blue plastic analog sticks. I'll second ManaByte with a vote for the Xbox wireless being just as good, too.
