Finally Got GC Component Cables: Thoughts, questions.

I got 'em for $17 - too good to be true, so I grabbed 'em. The fact that you have to use the analoig audio out drived me batshit, but whatev. I am not about "reading" so it took me twenty minutes to figure out that the ass picture was actually 480i - I hadn't pressed the B button on startup (actually a pretty nice interface when you think about it). But I have to say I'm a wee bit disappointed now that it does work.

I only have Mario Sunshine, Zelda Wind Waker, Animal Crossing and some fuck has my Res Evil 4 this weekend. The three games look kinda "meh." Does anyone have a good demo suggestion? Star Wars maybe? Just something to put my cube through its paces. Also, I can't figure out for sure if the Cube is outputting correct widescreen, or if my TV is stretching it.

f-zero, starfox, and sonic heroes look really nice in component. vivid colors, and less (none?) of the obvious color banding and artifacts in re4 and wind waker.

None of the games you mentioned support widescreen.. so you should set your TV to 4:3 mode.. unfortunately some TVs lock into widescreen mode with 480p - if so, you're basically screwed.

Yeah, F-Zero GX looks incredible in progressive and widescreen. Also, GC games require to set them manually to widescreen in the option menu, so there shouldn't be any confusion whether it's widescreen or not.

F-Zero it is! Hawt. Also, none of the games I've got seem to HAVE a widescreen option, but i'll take a look again.

StarFox Adventure is a great game to run on a high-end TV. Progressive and widescreen support. Eternal Darkness is also running in WS.

You can also try out Metroid Prime 1/2. Even though both of them don't have a true anamorphic WS option, you can always stretch the screen so that it can look decent on a 16:9 TV. It looks great on mine.

gamespot.com -> advanced search -> check gamecube & widescreen

Gives you the list of gamecube games supporting widescreen, which arent many, 23 total.
