Fired Up (PSP): OMG faster loading PSP game ever

TTP

Have a fun! Enjoy!
Just got the review code. OMG loading time for a huge TMB-style map is just 6 seconds. SIX SECONDS! WTF! The only other game (EU rev code) I got that doesnt load shit is Everybody Golf.

The whole presentation is very slick and fast to navigate. Game sharing function is there (multiplayer mode for up to 8 players locally), as well as content download (beta site already up and running with around 12 maps for dl).

There are playable demos of Wipeout Pure (multiplayer mode included) and Medievil on the UMD to share with other PSPs (I dunno if it gets stored in the target system mem stick or just stays in main memory till turn off. Dont have another PSP to check this out). 30fps with slowdowns during caos but still very enjoyable. Best smoke effect ever. Great vehicles physics.

Also got final review code of Wipeout Pure. No major differences from the US version, but it comes with 1 Mediaevil video and two single/multiplayer shareable demos (Fired Up and Wipeout Pure itself - which is curious since it seems there is no game sharing in the proper Wipeout Pure game. It's just for the demo multiplayer mode), a new DELETE option in the LOAD/NEW profile screen at the beginning (which also allows you to delete saved game or downloaded content of ANY game, not just Wipeout related stuff). Sadly, there's no autoload (still have to go through language selection > Press Start > Load profile)

From everything that's been said about other titles that have offered game sharing, I'd expect it's only supposed to stay resident in PSP memory and gets wiped as soon as the PSP is turned off.

Anyway, your 1st impressions of Fired Up sound promising. Would like to hear more when you get a chance to play more of the game. Thanks.

I'm playing it too right now

First impressions ? I fell just like i've been doing the same thing for the last two hours....

Destroy target/protect convoy/deliver a package seems to be the three main objectives. The fights are ok but the ennemies are quite dumb. Aliasing is pretty strong too.

Yeah, agree with that. It's a game conceived with multiplayer in mind indeed. It's very similar to Hardware Online Arenas, which is both a bad (HOA was stupid) and good (stupid pick up and play multiplayer games work on a handheld) thing.

Fired Up has a serious lack of personality, but I'm amazed at just how playable the game is. I thought it was by far the worst game shown at SCEE's PSP preview back in December 04, but it's certainly shown itself to be a great little title that works really well. Now Medievil on the other hand seems just incredibly boring.

Hardware isn't bad for a free game though. :D Is it still the free game that comes on the PS2 network disc?

Any playable code available for Pursuit Force yet?

Yes. Preview code. Techncially impressive, but the jump-between-cars dynamic gets old rather quickly. Hope there is more variety. Just played a couple of missions tho. Same as E3 ones.
