The real problem, I feel, is that by allowing microtransactions to be purchased by credits as well as money the game progression becomes designed around that so the grind is steeper because the developers want to make purchasing items with real money enticing.
By keeping it separate, Respawn can design the game progression for unlockables however it wants.
So like you said, but I've yet to see a developer make purchasing items pretty cheap when it can be bought with money. Unless the items are completely random.
In addition to the free stuff, we will be opening a store in game with the launch of DLC #1 that will allow you to purchase new skins, camo and Prime Titans if you want for a modest price. We will have no in-game currency exchange. No locked loot boxes, crafting shards or pay-to-win weaponry. No RNG. If you see something you like, you buy it and that’s it. These in no way effect stats and are purely cosmetic. We will have two Prime Titans available at launch. They have new chassis and assassinations but function the exact same way as their original counterparts.
I mean with all the smaller changes to the game. The smaller changes made in 2 could potentially change the flow of the map (red outline, grapple, turrets, etc)
Pretty much. I agree, I think they made the best decision.
Saying that, there is a currency system in game and people will be racking them up after unlocking a few items perm, so I think there should be something you can spend them on instead of letting the currency system go to waste and be pointless. If not loot boxes like I said then something else.

Aiming allows the 40mm to store up to 3 shots to burst fire
Can we finally get this to be real?

Go back and play Angel City in R1. There's no way they can get R2 as good as that ;(
unless it's the biggest update ever
You can only buy them with real money only.
The problem with allowing you to buy them with currency is you'll just buy the thing you want and never give respawn a penny, which isn't fair considering they're gonna support it with free DLC. Or they make it cost a ton of in game credits to make buying with money enticing, but that's even worse.
The only decent "compromise" i could see is real money = can get whatever you want, in game currency = loot box
in other words what they did makes sense here.
I'm sure it'll move some decent units with Black Friday sales, after all the good word of mouth it's had. It strikes me as a game that people may not have prioritized as a day one purchase over other games releasing in the same timeframe, but that they were interested in picking up soon enough once it got cheaper.Respawn and Titanfall I love you. Thank you for some free DLC. But when I actually see what happens with the price of the game, thats not really a postive sign. I hope that at least now many people will buy the game.

I agree, I only said that cause people in the OT were complaining you couldn't buy them with credits and it kinda looked like this topic was heading in that direction too
I don't really give a shit about skins though.. I'll never buy any of them no matter how they are distributed or however much they may be. Only way I'll use them is if they're free and even then I'd probably just set one to active and never look at my skins page again.
Because I forgto what map Angel city was, I just watched this:

I cannot wait to get this game for Christmas! I really hope that people are still playing by then...
So hype. Love this business model.
Might just end up being my GOTY.
Same goes to blizzard. But you can't make that much money without RNG.Bungie are you listening? This is the way it should be. No RNG nonsense on purchasable cosmetics. Bravo. Bought this game on the Origin sale have yet to dive in. Too much BF1 right now.
Hope the Prime Titan skins are priced reasonably well. I gather, I'll be getting most of these as long as the price isn't too high.
This is how microtransaction should be implemented, and I'm supporting them with my wallet.

WE CAN DO THIS, TITANGAF!TOP NETWORKS RECOGNITION
Oh man, I'm psyched! I thought Overwatch would be my GOTY, but I think this game may be starting to fill its spot. If FFXV doesn't win me over, then I think TF2 is definitely taking the throne for me. Initially, I just picked up the game because of all of the talk about the campaign - and now I'm staying for the multiplayer.
I hope everything is reasonably priced.
WE CAN DO THIS, TITANGAF!
i got the fist game because of titanfall2 ( i never understood what people are saying about tf1 has superior maps and damn they are right) and people are still playing it. so no worries.I cannot wait to get this game for Christmas! I really hope that people are still playing by then...
