Superman initially figures "hey I've got super powers, why the FUCK am I sticking my neck out for other people? I'ma have me some fun!" but in the course of the movie he realizes that it is unreasonable for him to act immorally and as he falls in love with Lois Lane he is convinced that humanity is worth protecting from outside threats as powerful as him, and from each other. Lois has not softened his heart of kryptonian rock, but rather turned his heart and soul into something stronger. He is now...the man of steel. A man whose morality will not falter even in the face of temptation, a man who will do what is right because it is right.

Now that would be interesting. But I don't think that's what we'll get.
:lol I almost find it funny that you find that that would be interesting. I guess it would be better than whatever cliche we're in store for, but we'll see. (seriously, what's the plot line for this?)

something is off about the look. the Hair for one, its like he has it all combed backwards. And Henry looks like in the mid to late 30s

Erm, SuperMAN.

How old would you like him to look?

As with Spiderman's new suit, the only thing I don't like is the texture on the suit. That aside, looks great. Looks like a Superman you really don't want to fuck with.

Eh, not loving it. I don't like the costume at all and the background seems to indicate syfy-level production values.

I love the shots of him as Clark though:

Dean Cain was my favorite Superman. Lois and Clark forever!

Fuck that Smallville piece of shit. That show can go to hell.

BRING IT BACK! Superman and Lois are split in the comics. I think we need a new interpretation for a new generation! Who will be the new Teri Hatcher? Damnit she used to really not suck. What happened?

This is Superman.

This suit, with the crest a little bigger, would be perfect. Texture is spot on

This however...

is a porn parody[/QUOTE]

The crest is big because he'll take it off at some point and throw it at an enemy

Someone big is writing the script, I just can't remember who at the moment.

Looks fine I guess. I would have loved to see Routh get another round though, despite the movie being pretty bad he made a great Superman.

Superman's suit: 100% pure gator skin

Why does he have the spit curl as Clark but not as Superman? THIS IS BACKWARDS AND CRAZY!

I'm not joking when I say the Lois and Clark is the best Superman has ever been, the guy from the future being the example of just how fun that show was.

Perhaps they tired of his shameless Chris Reeve impression and utter lack of charisma? ;)
I can't believe how much I disagree with you. You and I are usually on the same page with this stuff.

That's Superman.

I mean, no one did it better than Chris...

But still. Routh was a really great Superman.

I dunno about this guy, though. A lot can change between now and when the movie comes out, so I hope Cavill knocks it out of the park and proves me wrong, but right now, when I look at that dude, I don't see The Man of Steel.

I really hope Snyder isn't looking to darken up Superman. Make Zod creepy and villainous, sure, but with Superman, you go big, blue and bombastic or you go home.

Superman isn't Batman. He doesn't sulk in the alleyways. He's up in the sky.
I like how fierce he looks. I don't really get some dark, brooding sense from that pic. He mostly just looks intense. If that were Clark Kent it'd be a bigger concern.

This concerns me, but I think he will keep the crazy in check (but there will be tons of slow-mo). If he screws up Superman, the nerds will run him out of the industry.

It's literally the only thing holding back any hype I could be having for this. I liked his Dawn of the Dead, but there are no words that can describe just how much I despised 300 and Watchmen. Legend of the Guardians was really boring and a waste of time, but I haven't seen Sucker Punch yet, though I've heard that's his biggest travesty yet.

So yeah, it's hard to get excited but I want to be. This needs to be the film where he really pulls through.

Much better than the awful Green Lantern costume. That's not hard to do, though.

I'm still worried about the tone of this movie. I'm not interested in a grim, dark Supes.

It looks really awful. Horrible texture, horrible hair, horrible face, horrible crest. It will probably look better in (slow) motion, but this picture really turns me off.

They are hiding his red underwear for a reason.
Looking at the costume, you can see what looks to be a raised portion on the upper calf of his right leg, and a raised area on his left side next to the belt area. My guess is that the briefs are not there, and instead they've gone for some type of red striping in that area to break up the blue and provide the red for the trunks. Gimme a sec...

EDIT: Right here:

I'm betting that the red briefs are gone, replaced with red side-panels on the pants instead.

Well! Sure is a good thing that 75% or more of the film will either be in slow motion or a freeze frame of the subject but with things moving about in the background.

Watchmen truly was as faithful an adaptation as you were gonna get of that book. I think 300 did a really great job of portraying Miller's two dimensional writing as well. You can hate Snyder, but I really think he adapts things faithfully. Now we just need to know what he's trying to adapt here.

NEW KRYTPON SAGA PLEASE!

I've really soured on Returns overall. It's just a terrible attempt at a Superman film, and Routh gets caught up in the bad decision to continue the Reeve films, so they had him ape those superior performance to a almost laughable level.

Then add in the bad suit with the toy sized S-Shield and for me you have a giant loss. =(

That is patently wrong.

Wat?

When he's pissed off he sure as hell should look intimidating and fierce.

It's still a piece of shit design.

When he's pissed he is. I hate when people assume Superman never gets angry. He is the most "just" person on earth. There is such a thing as righteous fury. Supes does it pretty well.

Besides the hair, i think it looks awesome. I never liked Routh as Superman, and the film sucking did not help either.

Also, i love that Snyder is directing this, i pretty much love all his work. Did not see Suckerpunch though.

I liked 300, until I watched it a second time, and I think if you stripped the soundtrack off of Watchmen it would be 100% better. I have no words for Sucker Punch. There wasn't a single trailer that made me want to see it.

I won't disagree with any of that, but I really haven't liked any of his films beyond Dawn of the Dead. Perhaps I just don't like the source material. But I like Superman, so we'll see.

I have heard great things about Watchmen but I don't think I'd like it if the film is a good representation of it.

Gotta admit, that's one of the better Superboy cosplays I've seen. Who is that guy, is he on deviantart? He's so purdy!
