I remember it was something like "Kirby Bowl 64" for a while, too. I have an old Nintendo Power promotional video with a short clip of Kirby balls rolling around a checkered landscape.

As in, the sequel to Kirby's Dream Course.

The pics on the site are from Yoshi's Story, I guess the name "Yoshi's Island 64" and the logo were made up by a magazine.

The site was Nintendo.de (the official German Nintendo site) in 1997. I think the game was planned as Yoshi's Island 64.
