With all the reources EA has, they should be able to hire good medellers. All oftheir sports games have bead modelling on the players (or at least Madden, MVP, and Live do).

Considering VC's NBA2K series the last couple of years, shpankey is right.

Hopefully Ubi Soft uses the Inside Drive engine this year for a NBA game so that shpankey is wrong

In a surprising move, Ubisoft also acquired the technology, tools, and source code of sports games from Microsoft Game Studios. The code was used in the Microsoft games NHL Rivals, NFL Fever, NBA Inside Drive, and MLB Inside Pitch. The curious purchase gives Ubisoft a healthy jumping-off point to enter the sports market, but using code from NFL Fever and MLB Inside Pitch seems moot, since EA owns the exclusive rights to the National Football League, and Take-Two Interactive owns the exclusive third-party rights to Major League Baseball. Both deals go into effect next year.

Live was so much better than ESPN last year,but as usual the crap lag EA Canada always produces online killed it.Me and DM played one game last year and it was a very good game of b-ball,IMO at least

It didn't lag much either,but it was still there,lag should be a non factor just like it is in Madden,so no excuses for them really.

Live probably is the best basketball series now, but it still sucks.

I don't what the fuck Sega was thinking but they somehow have made ESPN worse every single year since 2002. Sadly with how shitty Sega has become I expect that trend to continue this year. IMO 2k2 on DC is still the best playing basketball game, even though the graphics look nasty by todays standards. Though even that series was nowhere near being perfect. The balance between offense and defense was done so well, but at the expense of a much slower and less realistic flow to offense.

It seems that basketball is an afterthought after Madden and FIFA for EA. The games just aren't nearly as polished. I am assuming this is because basketball games don't sell very well? I never have any complaints with Madden, but I can't stand Live (and FIFA is garbage after discovering the wonders of Winning Eleven).

Basketball gamers/fans do not demand a simulation. They are more into the more superficial aspects of the sport. There's a reason why the arcade versions outsell the so called sim games.

basketball is also much easier/practical to play in real life. I'd rather just go to the park and play in a pick up game than sit at home and play videogame basketball.

agreed. the past 2 ESPN games have been awful. Just the way the espn games move turns me away, there is no fluidity...just choppy ass animations.

If I'm given a choice of Madden 360 or NBA Live Xbox, I'm jumping right ahead to 360

Its good to hear NBA Live is coming to PSP though, I wanted a good basketball game on the go.
