Dead Lord...

Yeah, Cross' motivations and reasons for being bad are better depicted in Ant-Man, but I'd say overall, yeah they're about the same level of quality. Not amazing but not horrible like Ronan or the Dark Elf dude.

The final fight sequences are better than Iron Man. It doesn't falter the way that Act 3 of Iron Man does, but at the same time it doesn't really reach the highs of Act 1/2 of Iron Man.

Before someone gets the wrong idea, the similarities between Iron Monger and Yellowjacket in these movies are intentional as Wright particularly liked that concept from Iron Man 1

Oh I can imagine ;-)

I've had the displeasure of spending a significant amount of time with film school students. I learned pretty quickly not to talk to them about movies...ever. I'm sure the obnoxious behavior I witnessed isn't universal among people in the industry, and most of them likely grow out of it with time, but man...talk about sucking the joy out of something beloved.
It's far from universal. As a film student myself I like to think I'm far from obnoxious like that.

*come into Ant-Man reaction thread to find two pages of Deborah Ann Woll taking her shirt off in a True Blood gif.*

"Yep. This is a GAF thread."

Doctor Strange is next, but that movie had Benedict Cumberbatch, the story could be shit and I'd probably still enjoy it. Lol
I hope they don't refrain from having Cumberbatch saying "I am the Doctor" at some point in the script. The clip will be reused in Doctor Who-related Youtube montages for ages to come.

Saw the world premiere yesterday. Here's some bullet points on my end. No Spoilers.

- More enjoyable than Age of Ultron. It's smaller in scale/scope and felt way more focused, which helped it out a lot. Didn't feel bogged down by the MCU, which is what I felt about Ultron.
- The comparisons to Ocean Eleven aren't entirely accurate. It's definitely a heist/burgling movie, but doesn't really have the Ocean's swag/feel. At the same time that's not a bad thing.
- The comedy is very Rudd/Apatow feel. Conversational, improv. The jokes land, unlike Age of Ultron's. I thought it overall was one of the funniest Marvel movies. Very lighthearted but still had pretty solid "human" moments. The motivations are clear.
- Not really any annoying/throwaway characters.
- The MCU tie ins don't feel ham-fisted. It feels very organic and it's not overdone at all.
- There is one sequence/MCU tie-in that you really don't want spoiled. It was great not having any idea it was going to happen. It was pretty important in the movie too.
- The two credits scenes were really cool. Enjoyed them both immensely and they were better than AoU's.
- Michael Douglas is in the movie way more than I expected. It's more of an ensemble movie than I thought it would be.
- Hope Van Dyne was a pretty good character overall. She was essentially the anti-Jane Foster (Strong, seemed to care about her role, tough, extremely capable.) She's most comparable to a Peggy Carter in terms of role and characteristics.

I'm not going to give a score, but I'll put it into a MCU rank list:
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Avengers
Iron Man
Guardians of the Galaxy
Ant-Man
Captain America
Thor
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Iron Man 3
Thor: The Dark World
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2

If anyone has any other questions, let me know and I'll try to answer. PM me if you want spoilers.

Since the quality of the Marvel movies are all over the place, would you mind doing your rankings in a tiered format?

Also is the scene MCU scene we don't want spoiled something involving (legit spoiler warning)
____Falcon____
?

I only want to watch this movie for Paul Rudd. Otherwise, I don't really care all that much. It's just another Marvel movie from the production line.

Thanks for reminding me why I don't watch Youtube reviews. Christ alive.

"It's so good guys, IT'S SOOOO GOOD"

Why is there a robot?!
Ehh, the robot is part of her show. I don't have an issue with it.

I think she's got great opinions and she does really fantastic in-depth histories of a lot of comic book runs. Naturally there's not a whole lot she can talk about in this one considering there's probably an NDA at the moment and it's completely spoiler free. I think she's just very aware that Ant-Man is a hard sell and wants people to give it a shot because she loved it, nothing wrong with that.

At the end of the day, she's usually very picky and critical of her comic book movies. So I think her raving about this one is a great sign and that's why I posted it :)

I can't stand most youtube personalities and I found this video review fine.
She was genuine and not playing some awful character like most of those terrible youtubers do.
I'm not sure what the issue was with her video.

Yeah point to take away is she seemed to have genuinely liked it, and you can tell she's not blindly adoring of the Marvel movies. I'm considerably more excited for this than I was Avengers 2.

For anybody who knew about future MCU developments Age of Ultron really seemed like a necessary stepping stone rather than a hype-worthy film huh?
