First Tekken 5 TRCs Revealed - 3 of them get released simultaneously!

I just saw this posted on TekkenZaibatsu so I thought I'd spread the good news.

In Korea (where T5 was released first, irrc) there are reports of 3, yes 3, time released characters (TRCs) coming out at the same time. They are:

Anna Williams
Baek Doo San (yes!)
Roger Jr. (I'd rather have Alex)

Wait a minute... I thought Baek Doo San died in Tekken 3 after being drained of his energy from Ogre? Wasn't that the reason Hwoarang entered the tournament in the first place (i.e. to avenge his master?)?

People raised this question on TZ as well. Supposedly, the exact quote from Hwoarang's profile is something like "Baek fell victim to Ogre". They never explicity used the words "died" or "was killed"....so he could have been seriously hurt but not dead. Just because Ogre had someone's moves doesn't mean that they are dead. He had some of Anna & Lee's moves too but they are still very much alive.

Update on Roger Jr.

Roger Jr is but 1 of 2 Kangaroos! You actually play as Roger Jr's mother. Roger Jr is being carried around in his mother's pouch while she is fighting and apparently he helps her fight.
 
OK, how the hell is Heihachis DAD in this game? Whats his deal now?

Apparently he wasn't dead. Heihachi had him locked up in a dungeon beneath Honmaru all these years and when Honmaru was destroyed he was set free. They haven't revealed why he's all demonic and stuff....unless he really was dead, then that would explain it. The face and mouth on his stomach (just like Bishamon from Darkstalkers) are classic Japanese symbols for ghosts/demons. But the intro it makes it look like he was alive. They really haven't explained what's going on yet.
 
Awesome awesome awesome. I bought Tekeken 4 for the story, as the game kinda sucked. I hope jin still has kazama-style moves. I always thought that the head that Ogre held up at the beginning of 3 was Baek's, but I'm glad he's still kicking. :/ I hope it's not easy to button-mash with him anymore.
 
Tekken 5 rocks and looks great! I hope the ps2 does it justice. Anyone in NYC who wants to check it should hit the Chinatown fair arcade{aka chicken arcade}.

He was raided by someone and lost consciousness on his way back home.
When Baek got conscious again,he was hospitalized in the military hospital.
Baek was informed by a military elite that he had been unconscious for a year.
Baek got a job to teach in the military.
He was asked by the base commander to write a mail to Hwoarang,which said he was safe alive and asked Hwoarang to come back to the military.
And the two met again for 2 years and a half.
2 months passed and Baek entered the king of ironfist tournament 5 in order to identify how Hwoarang got better.

In the name of Kazuya Mishima,the 1st Roger was born from the developpment of militarized animals in Mishima Zaibatsu Biological Technology facility.
Roger(father) lived his silent life with his family after he entered the king of ironfist tournament 2.
However,Roger was kidnapped by someone leaving his wife and son.
And the king of ironfist tournament was announced soon after as if it was intended.
Roger jr. sensed something between the tournament and his father.
He decided to enter the tournament in his mother's pocket.

She and her sister were crygenically frozen. Yeah, very stupid way to keep them young and pander to pervs instead of just allowing a middle aged woman in a fighter for once
 
I thought only Nina was frozen. And Ana was searching for Nina. At least thats what I remember from Tekken3's storyline. I don't remember seeing Ana being frozen in tekken3's story.

No. Nina was frozen and Anna demanded to be frozen along with her so that she wouldn't be old and her sister, young. In T3 Anna was trying to recover Nina's memory (she got amnesia from the cold sleep machine) so that they could hate/fight each other again. Anna didn't think life was worth living if she didn't have Nina to fight with.

Talk about a family in need of counciling. Heihachi has fucking twice tried to kill his own son, once he failed but scared him for life the second time he succeded and then dropped his dead body into a volcano. Then he goes on to try and experiment on his grandson to get his "devil gene." Now we find out he locked his old man up in a dungeon for years.

Is that the official Namco story? The ending CGs made it look like Anna was trying to be nice to Nina so they wouldn't be fighting anymore.

Yes, it is the real story. Her Tekken 3 bios says she was sad when she found out Nina didn't have her memory because she wanted to continue fighting with her. I don't think they truely HATE each other, it seems more like they're just really messed up and enjoy the feud. Unlike Heihachi and Kazuya, who truely despise each other.


I finally got to play T5 today. So awesome. It really does feel like a new, faster T3.

I've never liked Anna before, but this version is TEH HOTNESS. Gotta learn her now, I guess.

Baek looks cool too. Way better than whiny brat Hwoarang.

They took away Jin's best move (the just frame laser scraper) and the game is better for it (no doubt in my mind). Jin isn't really watered down though. He's got plenty of good moves. You just won't be getting wins handed to you on a silver platter anymore. You actually have to work for them now.

And Kazuya most definitely has not been watered down. If anything he's improved. He's gotten a few new moves and they are pretty useful.
 
Jin watered down - Good. he was a tier unto himself in T4.

Kazuya watered down - Bad. Not only because he's my main character, but he wasn't exactly top tier in T4 :(
 
I know Jin had to be weakened, but I'm hearing that he's not top-tier at all anymore because he doesn't have any high-priority pokes or chains.
 
The game's been out for what, weeks? Give it some time for tiers to settle. Besides, what's so important about Jin dominating the game again anyway?
 
Their pain is my enjoyment. :)

Jin'll stilll be my boy, but I wouldn't appreciate it if he was nerfed too much, and that's what the initial impressions are leading me to believe.
 
Just saw the game last night. Played it once because I'm too fucking cheap to shell out 75 cents a play with a console release scheduled for February. At least make the matches six rounds or something if you're going to jack up the damn prices.

Apparently Namco didn't get the memo that clothes move.

I can also say that the joysticks are total shit. Either they're broken, or the Japanese have a taste for god awful arcade sticks. I tried Raven's one forward, RP, LP, Both Punches combo. Simple enough, and the fucking thing wouldn't come out. QUALITY!
 
Well I went looking for Tekken 5 with my cousin last night to no avail(sorry sf2fanatic). Neither Super Arcade nor AI had the machine. Although I did find out AI had Virtua Fighter 4 Final Tune with the card reader and the was the only 3d fighter game there :lol
My campus has Soul Calibur II and Tekken 4, but I want to play some Tekken 5!
