I like this thread better than StephaneC's.

Neo2046 rocks, EVERYONE POST IN THIS THREAD INSTEAD TO SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION

It'll be *conviction* the best sto*conviction*ry ever, just like all the *conviction* other Wild Arms games. It won't wear *conviction* you down here!

Now if they could only use a thesaurus every now and again...

Wonder what theme they're going to shoehorn into the plot and reference every ten seconds this time. Birds, dreams, heroes, and childhood have been done...how about hope?

Well, I'd rather have 60 Wild Arms games than 60 Tales games.

Why's that?
Wild arms 3 > Wild Amrs 4 as far as I'm concerned... Code F... Don't know, wasn't really good eighter. All tales of games are top notch.

Most Tales games are far from top notch. There's only a few good tales games unless you're totally wetting yourself for what Tales is known for.

As for the 5th Vanguard picture, I hope it retains that graphic style in game. I have no doubt that it will though.

I dunno, I've grown a hatred for the Tales games. I think Symphonia clenched it. I'm planning on ebaying my copies of ToD 1 and 2 PSX soon.

WA4 has really made me look at the WA series again, though. It reminds me of BoF DQ; take a mediocre stale series (WA1-3, BOF 1-4) and completely invigorate it with new, compelling gameplay (WA4, BOF DQ). I hope WA5 takes 4's lead.

EDIT: Damn forced smileys!

Same here. Really thinking of getting that remake to relive my highschool years.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The music totally made that game for me. I don't really remember the story, but the game was definitely an enjoyable experience.

Same, so my girlfriend's sister bought it for me. She rocks.

I've been playing through WA4 the past few days, and you know what's funny? It has better platforming than most modern platformers. I'm actually enjoying the game quit a bit, overall. Sure some of it can get a little preachy, but some of the issues are dealt with more intelligently than I would've anticipated.

I agree with that.

MOST Tales games aren't really all that great. They are simply average RPGs with some fun, fast paced battles.

Abyss blew me away, though. Easily my favorite game in that series. Felt more like a Star Ocean game (considering the origins of the two series, that's kind of interesting to me) or something (though I know a lot of folks aren't big fans of that series).

Wild Arms 4's platforming was surprisingly fun. Quite a different break from some games that have generic platforms that just are there for show.....

The battle system is fun, but some have said you can exploit it, I haven't tried to.

Next theme should be "horses"!

Wild Arms 4 was a step in the right direction (Gameplay Wise)
I'm looking foward to Part 5

Wild Arms 2 = More of the same if you liked Wild Arms 1. More characters, bigger quest, and a modified version of that battle engine.

Wild Arms 3 = This game starts breaking the mold with a HIGHLY effective customization system combined with a well crafted battle system. Also, it's the only Wild Arms with a very strict western motif (ignoring the Sci-fi element that is in every WA game).

Alter Code F = Remake of the original Wild Arms using a gutted version of Wild Arms 3's systems. It's by no means a bad remake but it's far from what you'd expect.

I haven't played 4 myself so I can't really comment but WA2 and WA3 have some great characters.

Of course, sci-fi Elements have been in all WA games, I just mentioned ignoring that sci fi element, WA3's western motif is much closer to a western than either WA1 or WA2.

And there is still no Quick Draw boss battles. It's the WEST. You do QUICK DRAW.

Other than that, cool.

Still pissed at Agetec for the musical rape of ACF though. Yep. The bitterness burns brightly boy...

Could someone specify please? Im not really familiar with Wild Arms but I tought every game had a western theme? And indeed all the movies/screens I check, only WA3 has this distinctive look&feel on it.

Every game does have a Western Theme but both Wild Arms 1 and Wild Arms 2 are a more fantasy-like western with castles, kingdoms, swords, and etc. Those are somethign you wouldn't see in a western most of the time. In WA3, there are no kingdoms, or massive castles, and swords are limited to giant Bayonets. It keeps the entire spirit of a Western intact.

All right, and what about #4?

Until the second half anyway, once the pseudoscience and genetic manipulation shit worms its way into the plot

Sooo, is Wild Arms 2 a good game? I did enjoy the first one well enough. I think I might be going on an old-school RPG kick right now with Suikoden, so why not continue it with WA2?

It's not a bad game at all but might be hard to go back to with how fugly and snail paced the battle system can be. I think the first half is particularly cool because it handles the "big bad organization" spiel very well. The second half jumps into the stupid sci-fi junk that's kind of dumb although I LOVE their explanations of what Dragons are.

If you can get past the ugly graphics, the slower battle system, and the pretty awful translation, I think it's worth a shot.
